OK. We’re still all about yesterday’s press conference where we announced the 2007 VMA nominees live on TRL. If you missed it, here are the highlights: Justin and Beyonce pretty much crushed the competition in terms of volume at least – they’re both up for seven Moonmen each! Timbaland, who’s the show’s Music Director (nice choice, huh?) and will also be performing a set (and if you caught him DJing at Justin Timberlake’s concerts, you know that’s beyond hot) pronounced himself the official “Maestro” and promised nothin’ but a par-tay up in his suite at the Palms in Vegas the night of the show (Sunday, September 9), and did his best politico impression when he neither confirmed nor denied the rumor that Britney Spears is gonna perform at the awards.
Oh, then surprise guest Kanye West pretty much took over the rest of the affair and issued a beat down to all of his foes, from Justice, the French band with the sleeper hit that just might possibly beat him out for Video Of The Year, to 50 Cent, who had the GAUL to set his album to drop the same day as Kanye’s. (September 11!) And, in case you didn’t catch this fact because you were too busy sweatin’ Chris Brown or Robin Thicke (whom we saw in the hall late last night – he simply could not be sweeter… or cuter), sugar, the show’s going down in Las Vegas, AND it’s gonna be completely live, with some of the best live performances we’ve featured in years; the roster includes Rihanna, (who apparently now doesn't even leave the house without an umbrella), Foo Fighters, Chris Brown, Lily Allen, Fall Out Boy, Amy Winehouse and Timbaland (oh, and of course, Kanye). Plus, some surprise guests that even we don’t know about (they told us they could tell us but then they’d have to kill us, so we opted top stay ig’nent.) And some of the performances are goin’ down in suites at the Palms. And, the whole damn show is only happening once… Yes, we confess, in years past we’ve maybe gotten a little carried away with rerunning shows once they’ve um, passed their expiration date. But this year it’s live (a risky prospect, we know), and it's happening one time and one time only. So you either catch it, or you don’t. And we highly recommend catching it. Til then, get warmed up with photos of all the celebs you saw at the event, and catch clips of all the big newsmakers from yesterday’s event, including, of course, Kanye talkin’ smack.
