We've seen Britney through her squeaky-clean post-Mouseketeer days, through to her Justin phase, her Madonna make-out, to her sexy 'Slave 4 U' era (which, in our opinion, was her hottest ever). We were on board when she took her turn as the world's hottest flight attendant, to her fake (thankfully) suicide, countless trips to Starbucks, two dissolved marriages, two babies, some naughty-bit paparazzi pics, countless court appearances (but she can see her kids again, at least as of this posting! yay!), tabloid covers and a teeth-gritting 2007 MTV VMA performance.
The result: we're a nation divided between die-hard, do-no-wrong Britney fans and handfuls of haters. But Britney doesn't care, which is part of the reason she named her album Blackout, as in blacking out the hate, y'all.
She's been out of the spotlight, musically, for a few years, but that's not long considering that she's already sold over 83 million units worldwide. If that were us, we'd probably seek an early retirement and spend our days watching reruns of Three's Company and eating sugar cereals. But not Britney. This is her seventh album in nearly a decade. And despite some serious drama in her personal life, she's basically told the haters to eff off, and now she's back in the game. But will Blackout keep her there?
We've got the entire album a week before it hits stores. Listen to every track of Blackout, and tell us what you think: is this her comeback (remember: "Gimme More" has already become a #1 single on iTunes) or a nail in the coffin?
