Ingrid Michaelson: ‘The Way I Am’

You already know that we heart Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way I Am” (aka “that sweater song” from the Old Navy commercial that was all over the place a few months ago), and apparently we aren’t the only ones who have fallen in love with it. The song peaked at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and Ingrid’s self-released album, Girls and Boys, cracked the Billboard 200 album chart. Not bad for a 26-year-old indie artist who still lives with her parents in Staten Island, N.Y.

Now there’s a video — yay! And although we have a completely abnormal phobia of clowns — don’t ask — we can’t stop watching it. We imagine this is what prom night would be like if it were hosted by Panic! At the Disco and The Dresden Dolls. Plus, the song’s just so damn catchy. Check it out and tell us what you think…

Exclusive Interview: Buzzworthy Talks To OneRepublic

onerepublic2.jpg

If you’re wondering exactly how chill OneRepublic is, the answer is this — so chill that despite being up for 36 hours straight, the soul-pop fivesome still took their sweet time to talk to us after they finished performing live on TRL, even though they probably would’ve rather been back at the hotel napping.

First we caught up in the MTV Studios green room and reflected upon the finer points of the show: the wad of $2000 in real bills dangling from a gold rope around The-Dream’s neck; and Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, whom the boys declared can “Sing. Like, Kelly Clarkson-sing.” Then we chatted about Brit rock, Lance Bass and what it feels like to be treated like The Hoff. Read on, won’t you?

Buzzworthy: Before we get into it, let’s talk touring, because you’re blowing up, and people wanna know when they can see you live. What are your tour plans for 2008?

Ryan Tedder: We’ll be all over Europe in February and touring with Maroon 5 in New Zealand and Australia in March. And pretty much any time we’re not out of the country, we’ll be playing in the states. Just in the next month alone, we’re in Vancouver, Miami, Boston and San Diego, so it’s like we’re in all four corners of the country.

BW: We’d be remiss if we didn’t ask this: how do you feel about all those comparisons to Coldplay? Read more…

Good Charlotte Exclusive: Joel And Benji Talk Girls, Paparazzi And How Family Comes First

kbphoto2_72dpi1.jpg

While they were here at 1515 for TRL, we were able to steal a few minutes with Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden to talk about the band’s latest video, Joel’s impending fatherhood and what it’s like to constantly live under the celebrity microscope.

Buzzworthy: Do you have any good stories from the video shoot for “I Don’t Wanna Be in Love (Dance Floor Anthem)”?

Benji Madden: I was asleep the whole day and they just kept waking me up when it was time to shoot. I’d go out and shoot for five minutes and then go back to sleep.

Joel Madden: We shot it in Canada, and there were more extras than we were used to. There were more girls than we’re used to having in our videos. There was a lot of chitter-chatter going on. It was a fun video.

Simple Plan Sneak Peek: ‘When I’m Gone’

On Monday, we gave you just a small sneak peek at Simple Plan — specifically Séb and his puppy — on the set of their new video, “When I’m Gone.” And maybe that wasn’t cool of us to give you just a tiny taste. But you know what’d be even less cool? Not giving you the whole thing… which is essentially what’s happening, because we don’t have it yet. But instead, we’re giving you what we do have: a clip of Simple Plan’s new video, “When I’m Gone,” featuring a cameo by a purple-haired Perez Hilton.

Check it out above, or watch it here. And don’t miss the premiere of the whole thing — we’re premiering it on MTV and right here Monday, Dec. 10.

Mario Comes Clean About His Mom, His Music And ‘Dragon Ball Z’

ar281×211cropmario2.jpg

At 21, Mario is already an old pro on the R&B scene. He released his debut album at the ripe old age of 16 and scored his first #1 hit (”Let Me Love You“) when he was 18. He’s dabbled in acting with roles in Step Up and Freedom Writers and confronted his personal demons head-on in the MTV documentary I Won’t Love You to Death: The Story of Mario and His Mom, which chronicled his mother’s addiction to heroin.

With his third album, Go, coming out in a couple weeks, we sat down with Mario when he stopped by the TRL studio Monday for Spankin’ New Lyrics Week and chatted about his album, his mother’s struggle with sobriety and the top secret movie he’s working on.

Buzzworthy: Let’s talk about your new album, Go

Mario: This is my best album yet; my most introspective album yet; my most sexiest album yet. I don’t care who you are or what age you are, you’re definitely going to enjoy it.

BW: Would you say it’s more grown up?

Mario: It’s me. I feel like I’ve grown a lot, both in my music and as a person.

BW: In the spirit of Spankin’ New Lyrics Week, what song is your favorite lyrically?

Mario: I would say “Music for Love” because music is the metaphor for love, and that song is just really creatively written. Sonically it sounds great and I think I push myself vocally.

Buzzworthy Exclusive: Backstage With Paramore At ‘TRL’

paramore4.jpg

So, after Hayley (who’s way wee-er in person than you probably even imagined) finished in hair and makeup (and sweetly thanked the stylists who did her up), the guys ate some delicious craft service brownies and drooled over photos of Jessica Biel hanging in the hall at MTV Studios, everyone finished taking photo booth shots, and the grape-crushing madness ended, we lured Paramore into our good graces backstage at TRL and popped a few pressing questions on ‘em. Here’s what they had to say about hair straightening, missing their Tennessee hometown, and alien-vampire babies.

Buzzworthy: What was it like seeing yourself all week on MTV when you were Artist Of The Week?

Zac Farro: It was really weird, actually. On a day off on tour, we’d get to a hotel room in the middle of the day and we’d turn on MTV and we’d be sitting around a campfire on the screen. It’s just weird to see yourself, because you don’t feel like it’s actually real. But it was amazing. And all of our friends would call and text us and say ‘this is really annoying seeing you every second on MTV.’ We were like, ’sorry!’

BW: What do you miss most when you’re on tour?

Hayley Williams: Just home. We have a great hometown. It’s called Franklin, Tennesse. It’s right by Nashville. We just love it. We love going home and being with our friends and family.

BW: Whose hair takes the longest to straighten?

Zac Farro: Jeremy’s! He’s got a lion’s mane on his head.

Josh Farro:
It’s the fastest to curl.

Jeremy Davis: No, Zac’s curls faster than mine. Read more…

Video Premiere: Snoop Dogg’s ‘Sensual Seduction’

Nearly nine albums into the game, it’s safe to say Snoop’s clearly paid the cost to be the boss; now the man can pretty much do whatever he wants, even if it’s releasing a video where he plays keytar and alternates between smoking a cigarette and singing through a Vocoder. Which is why in his new “Sensual Seduction” video, Tha Doggfather gets a pass to go glammer than Ziggy Stardust-era David Bowie and feature more velvet, lace and metallic-brocade than Prince in… just about any Prince video (but especially “When Doves Cry”).

Exclusive Interview: Buzzworthy Talks To Ashley Tisdale

ashley_tisdale.jpg

With a brand-new behind-the-scenes DVD, a late-2007 mall tour under her belt, a constant flurry of appearances, two more movies in the works (the third installation of High School Musical and the upcoming film Picture This) and her still-going-strong debut album Headstrong — which could easily break the million-unit sales mark by early 2008 — it’s not clear when Ashley Tisdale even has time to breathe. But fortunately she made some room in her sched to stop by TRL yesterday afternoon and to chat with Buzzworthy. While she politely shot down questions about Hudgensgate, she did have lots to say about Hollywood drama, Christian Louboutins, and peeing in public.

Buzzworthy: How has your life changed in the past few years with the success of your movies, shows and music?

Ashley Tisdale:
It’s definitely been a lot crazier. I’ve had a lot of opportunities, obviously, but I’m a lot busier. It’s overwhelming sometimes.

BW: How has your fame affected your daily life? Do you get recognized absolutely everywhere? Read more…

Alicia Keys Walks Like An Egyptian

alicia_keys3.jpg

No disrespecting the amazing, inimitable M.I.A., but in case you’re still missing Artist Of The Week ex-officio Alicia Keys, check out Entertainment Weekly’s Alicia Keys cover story, which details her emotional and spiritual journey to becoming a “Superwoman” (or as close as anyone’s ever gonna get), including the illness and ultimate death of a family member, the support of her long-time boyfriend, and a late-2006 head-clearing trip to Egypt.
