Yes, you remember them from their association with Snakes on a Plane, namely their single, “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It).” Of course, the Sam Jackson-starring movie was an example of fabricated ‘net hype that doesn’t even hold up well in the guilty pleasure funny-because-it’s-so-bad category because it’s merely mediocre. Cobra Starship, on the other hand, seems to be nothing of the sort.
Led by Gabe Saporta, Cobra Starship is signed to Fueled By Ramen’s Decaydance imprint — founded by Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump and Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy. Once “Snakes” gave the band exposure, Saporta had to form a real band to replace Maja Ivarsson (The Sounds), William Beckett (The Academy Is…) and McCoy, with who he recorded the song. That band featured Saporta is backed by guitarist Ryland Blackinton, bassist Alex Suarez (The Ivy League), drummer Nate Navarro and keyboardist Elisa Schwartz.
The band — the original lineup and the current one with Victoria Asher on keyboards replacing Schwartz — has logged tours with Gym Class Heroes and Panic! At The Disco, as well as with Fall Out Boy +44, The Academy Is … and Paul Wall on the Honda Civic Tour (such an incestuous little community, isn’t it?). And who can forget their surprise appearance in Fall Out Boy’s VMA suite in Las Vegas? Read more…

Britney Spears only has a few more days to make 2007 a banner year for ca-razy. The girl has pretty much done it all — passed out, shaved her head, flashed her whoha, gone to rehab, used an umbrella as a weapon, snoozed through her VMA performance … you name it, we’ll add it to the list — so what else could she possibly be holding back?
Well … in the past few days alone she seemingly got way too cozy with a paparazzo (we’re guessing that’ll come back to bite her in the ass), she was spotted acting annoyed that she was being followed by photogs inside the TMZ building and Perez Hilton claims she was caught on camera driving 100 mph and banging illegal U-turns … all while sporting a seriously heinous brown weave (hasn’t her real hair grown back yet???).
Now the clock’s ticking and she’s only got, like, 72 hours to top all the wacky s— she’s done over the past 362 days. Think she’ll go out in style or down in a blaze of glory?

‘Tis the season for lots o’ leftovers. Yesterday we gave you some yummy tidbits about Flyleaf, our Artist of the Week, and now we wanna serve you a heaping helping of what’s left of the interview we did with Angels & Airwaves‘ Tom DeLonge at the TRL Rock Band special. So sit back, loosen your belt and enjoy…
Buzzworthy: What artists are you listening to these days?
Tom DeLonge: I was forced to listen to the new [Bruce] Springsteen record and I loved it. Forced in a beautiful way — it was the only CD in the car. I love him. And I’m listening to a lot of Frank Sinatra right now because I’m always trying to relax.
BW: Do you play a lot of video games?
TD: No. My brother does, though.
BW: When you’re on the road, what are some must-haves on your tour bus?
TD: We rent a bus when we go on tour, so they’re always different. But we always have satellite, a DVD player. I usually try to have a shower on there, too. As a band, we try to stay close, so we all shower together. [Laughs.]

Looks like Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus is taking a cue from the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Vanessa Hudgens and Pageant Place’s Tara Conner by striking some provocative poses that probably weren’t meant to land on Perez Hilton. The 15-year-old has been raking in the dough on her Best of Both Worlds tour, but will people be demanding refunds after seeing these pics? Probably not. These days, sexy photos seem to propel good girls gone bad to the next level … or … straight into rehab. Which way do you think Miley is heading?

You guys just can’t seem to get enough of Flyleaf, our Artist of the Week. Whatever we put down, you Hoover up faster than you can say “Kate Moss.” So it’s only fitting that we provide you with some leftovers from our interview with Lacey Mosley and Pat Seals during last month’s TRL Rock Band special. Think of it as a belated Xmas gift from us to you…
Buzzworthy: Do you guys constantly write new songs when you’re on the road?
Lacey Mosley: We all write individually.
Pat Seals: We haven’t had a real good session where we all sit around and really, like, flesh things out as a band. A little less than a year ago we cranked out some new songs but it’s gonna be awhile before we have enough material [for a new album].
LM: We’re totally, like, longing to get that done because obviously we’ve been working this record for two years now. But it’s crazy the way it developed from something so small…
BW: A steady build seems like the best way to do it…
PS: Yeah, we’ve been real blessed. We’ve gotten to cherish each step of the way. We don’t take anything for granted. We were in a van forever, even after the record came out…
LM: I remember when we were touring with Staind and Aaron Lewis was like, “You guys are in a van? This is a bus tour; you can’t tour in a van on a bus tour.”

While some of us were celebrating Christmas with the fam, Will Smith was apologizing to Jews over comments he says were taken out of context by a writer for Scottish Newspaper The Daily Record.
Somehow, when the paper printed the writer’s observation, “Remarkably, Will believes everyone is basically good,” followed by Smith’s quote, “Even Hitler didn’t wake up going, ‘let me do the most evil thing I can do today.’ I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was ‘good,’” some set out to cast the former Fresh Prince of Bel Air as a Nazi sympathizer.
Of course, he’s not. “Adolf Hitler was a vile, heinous vicious killer responsible for one of the greatest acts of evil committed on this planet,” Smith said in a statement that hopefully puts an end to this. Really, could this guy really be lamenting for the days of the Third Reich?

Really, it seems like only yesterday we were ringing in 2007 and now we’re talkin’ about bringing Ought-Eight into being with Tila Tequila? Crazy.
Well, before you make those resolutions, take a look back on what happened in ‘07, courtesy of the fine folks at MTV News. First up is a quick synopsis of the whole year with Jim Cantiello. Then some of our favorite footage of the last 12 months. Dig it!

Um, it’s Christmas. And you’re on the Innertubes because? You’re so filled with the Christmas spirit that you just couldn’t sleep? You’re avoiding the relations? Netflixin’ like a total fiend? Seeing how long that Wii game you want is on backorder? You don’t celebrate Christmas, so it’s just “Tuesday”? Whatever excuse you’re rationalizing to yourself, we can’t blame you — we’re online too. And so is Chunky Pam, who’s here to wish you a very happy, hearty holiday.

When we went down to Belton, Texas to film Flyleaf for their Artist of the Week appearance, we didn’t expect to leave with quite as much as we got, which was an overwhelming amount of goodwill and generosity so real that you couldn’t fake it even if you wanted to.
The five-piece hard rock band, fronted by lead singer Lacey Mosley, and known for their Christian values, first started out in the music biz driving through blizzards with a mattress strapped to the roof of their car just to play a show and have something to sleep on that night. Today they’re headlining Family Values with their gut-wrenchingly honest, painfully poignant, and at times even sexy breed of alt-metal, backed by aggression, intellect and, above all else, hope.

We tracked down Blake Lewis when he was here at 1515 for TRL the other day and chatted him up. (We even got some exclusive pics of the season six American Idol runner-up for your viewing pleasure!) Here’s what the rambunctious beatboxer had to say about his debut album, his plans for the holidays and why he feels like he got screwed during the finale of American Idol.
Buzzworthy: Are you psyched that your album basically tied American Idol winner Jordin Sparks on the Billboard album chart, coming in at #10?
Blake Lewis: Oh, s—. I had no idea. I don’t really check the numbers or anything.
BW: Really, you didn’t know that?
BL: I know what it did the first week. But I don’t really care; it’s just a week. Talk to me in a year. [Laughs.]
BW: So, if chart positions don’t matter to you, what do you think success is?
BL: Fans showin’ up to gigs. I just love playing live. Now that the record’s out, I’m just stoked that I can play my own music and not do cover songs.
