When you've been around the block as many times as Jay-Z -- in his case, he is the block -- you barely need to show up to shoot your next video. Jay-Z's latest, "I Know," off American Gangster, doesn't feature Pharrell, who drops some knowledge on the chorus, and it's the first Jay-Z video that doesn't even feature Jay himself (perhaps he was too busy with that new record label he's allegedly working on?)
Instead, the star here is 19-year-old Zoe Kravitz, daughter of velvet-pants-aficionado Lenny Kravitz and Denise Huxtable, who probably just goes by Lisa Bonet at this point.
The video -- directed by Billy Parks -- is generating a little heat from the Innerhate -- too Kanye/ too Spike Jonze/ what's up with Hov's no-show act? -- while other die-hard Jay fans are praising the artistic video for focusing more on Jay's words and addiction-related double entendres than Jay's image.
But whatever: what do YOU think?
