Even back in the early ‘90s, when she was just a curly-haired Long Island girl in cut-offs and a hoodie, Mariah Carey — the youngest daughter of a struggling, middle-class broken home — was that chick, destined for a luxe life of Louis Vuitton luggage and Louboutin heels. That larger-than-life voice soared out of our Sony Sports Walkman (remember the banana-yellow ones?) like a supernatural force, and nearly two decades, five Grammys, 11 studio albums, and 18 #1 singles later, that chick’s still rocking iPods and MTV.

With that logic-defying range that glides from whisper-soft-sexy-sweet to match-in-a-gas-tank explosive, Mariah went Unplugged, got animated for Christmas, and took down a cheating Jerry O’Connell at a matinee. She went undercover on a Jet Ski, fled her symbolic wedding, cruised Paris with Pharrell, and lived out a computer geek’s fantasy with a unicorn at her side. She debuted more #1 singles than any other artist in chart history, and she spent more time on the charts and broke and sold more records than half her peers combined.

She’s the voice, the body (those abs!?!?), and an unrivaled musical legend. Yet she still manages to embrace the spotlight (while skillfully avoiding scandal), and work the treadmill in spike heels — which, as MTV’s Artist of the Week, you can catch her doing all week.

if her clothes weren't so far her recent live performances wouldn't be so bad. but that doesn't take away from the fact that she can still sing. sometimes a decrease in power is just a sign of age - madonna, barbara streisand - and there are some people - patti labelle, stevie wonder - who get better with age. it depends on how you take care of yourself.

i've been a fan for 14yrs now and counting..... i love mariah she is amazing, her lyrics and her voice is one of a kind very talented artist over all! My favorite album has to be unplugged and emancipation of mimi,my favorite songs are Make it happen and fly like a bird very personal songs for me. what's cool about her is that she is hilarious very funny lady i can relate to her personality,free spirit and down to earth. i always get excited about her music when she performs live not a lot of artist can say they can sing live. i'm a huge fan of mariah and i will always support her and her music.i'm glad she is back with another album is going to do well she can sang.

The lady just rocks. She is still in the top of the charts for a second century in a row and that is just amazing. It shows how powerfull this DIVA is, and also how adorable is to us, The Fans. I love watching her on live performances. Keep being amazing

Well as we can see most all of us on here LOVE Mariah. It's not just what some of on here think, It's what the whole WORLD has said about MC. Just look up the truth about her mega success and get to know the facts! She been on top forever and will keep on being on top. She is one very beautifull and sexy women. How many of you hatter out there can pull off wearing a short skirt and heels all while singing a #1 hit looking that hot? Anyone?? There is some good talent out there, but most is all old, ugle, fat, or just plain boring. Ok, supposedly according to Billboard, she will sell in excess of 500K copies in the first week! They basically said she is a lock to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200! Go Mariah! This album is the shiz, Mariah knows it, radio knows it, everyone knows it. Expect 3-4 #1 singles when it is all said and done and I am not overexaggerating. Every track is HOT TAMALE. Migrate, I Stay In Love, For The Record, Thanx For Nothing, Side Effects, I Wish You Well, Bye Bye, Cruise Control, all of them are the shiz, Love Story, Last Kiss, do yourself a favor and get the album, you won't regret it.

as like everyone here i adore Mariah and i also love how MTV has put those short clips of Mariah singling live durring the end of each show i hope MTV puts that out as Mp3's for sale or as a CD/DVD Combo for sale that would be great cause as like the Cd the live preformance that she does durring the ending are great also, MTV if you can please try to see if you can do that i love those Live Versions of her songs too...!
