Last week, Buzzworthy reporter Tricia Romano went backstage at FNMTV and pulled back the curtain to show you the nuts, bolts and Fall Out Boys of MTV's new video show. This week, she went back to scope out even more FN secrets.
Check out more behind-the-scenes coverage and photos of this week's episode of FNMTV, including interviews with Pete Wentz and musical guest Duffy. Plus, see what really goes on in hair and makeup, and peek into Lil Wayne's sound check!
Week two of FNMTV is in full effect, and if last week -- with Panic at the Disco’s headlining performance -- was all about the rock, this week belongs to hip-hop. Lil Wayne, Lil Mama, and Shawty Lo top the second installment of MTV's return to form — a video show (!!!!) — while '60s chanteuse Duffy, indie upstarts Vampire Weekend and power-pop favorites Boys Like Girls round out the lineup.

This week the atmosphere on set is decidedly more relaxed. Up in the skybox, It-girl Katy Perry trades banter with MTV lads James Montgomery and Tim Kash, while down on the ground, the rehearsal goes smoothly.

Instead of playing the videos all the way through, the clips are simply blocked out, which means that, sadly, we missed a sneak preview of most of the videos because theywentbyreallyreallyreallyfast. (We’re also sad that there's no Snoop Dogg segment, because Snoop ups the awesome ante on everything.)

But, the relaxed atmosphere gave Pete and the staff a little breathing room and some much-needed time to stand around and joke (or ride bikes, in Pete's case). We used the downtime to catch up with Pete and see how he felt about his FNMTV debut.
“It went pretty good," Pete said."Better than expected. I didn’t screw up super bad,” he said, sheepishly.
Interviewing artists has presented Pete with some situations we've been in ourselves. Like the part where he had to ask someone he knows in "real life" some gossipy questions; in this case it was the Pussycat Dolls, whom he asked about that Britney Spears cameo that disappeared from their new video.
"I know the Pussycat Dolls, so it was hard to go there on the Britney Spears question. I didn’t really want to,” he says. Awkward!
(More with Pete Wentz at FNMTV after the jump.)
Pete’s also getting used to other parts of his hosting duties: It’s very different doing the show live versus in rehearsals, so he says, “One of my biggest problems last week was I was trying to talk over the audience a lot. I was yelling over the mic, but the TV doesn't pick it up the same. I’m trying to train myself to just talk and hear myself talking, you know? You can’t help it because you feel the momentum of the crowd so you wanna like, yell.”
Last week he had his pals Panic at the Disco on, but this week, we asked him who he’s really psyched to see, and there was no hesitation. "Lil Wayne, man. I've been into him for a while. I think he's bonkers—his lyrics are bonkers!”
Check back later for more on Lil Wayne's performance, Duffy's rehearsal and to see Pete's wardrobe picks for this week, and check out more behind-the-scenes photos from FNMTV.
