British singer-songwriter Bryn Christopher’s currently known as the male Amy Winehouse and “that guy who had the song on the last episode of the last season of Grey’s Anatomy.” Except we’re pretty sure he’s not a tragically emphysema-ridden crackpot. Furthermore, it probably won’t be long before Bryn loses those Winehouse qualifiers and becomes known for his I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-the-early-’60s/ Motown-meet-Mephis soul sound. Think dusted off and rediscovered (he even uses rare vintage Stax samples on a few tracks) — not tossed off and rehashed. Gnarls Barkley, Jamie Lidell, and Paolo Nutini, fans, make room for your new new-old favorite.
