The Jonas Brothers may not have walked home with the Best Pop Video Moonman at Sunday night's 2008 VMAs, but they definitely earned the night's honorary Best Sportsmanship Award.
After diplomatically putting up with comedian Russell Brand's barbing during the show (the VMAs host crudely encouraged the boys to "take advantage" of their celebrity status and pretended to have, ahem, de-purified them), the boys would be more than justified in holding a grudge. Instead, in true (adorable!) Jonas fashion, they've actually brushed off Russell's remarks, saying they have no hard feelings against the bawdy Brit.
"For us, it's cool to see that he recognizes we are gentleman," Nick graciously told BBC radio. "I think he did a good job [at the show]," Nick added. "We saw him on Conan O'Brien and thought he was hilarious."
Hear that, Russell? Our beloved Jonases are lovers, not fighters. Which is why we're even applauding what the not-so-virginal Paris Hilton said in the boys' defense.
"I don't pick on them," Hilton told reporters after the show. "That's something cool for a kid to keep, so don't pick on them for that."
Amen, sista!
After all, we can't have nobody talking smack about our future husbands...
+ Check out Russell's joke and apology -- you can spot the Jonases in the shots too, and of course they're keeping their cool -- and Jordin Sparks when she got all ballsy and unscripted and "in your FACE, buddy," standing up for the Jonas Brothers and non-slutty people everywhere!
