We’ve seen a ton of Aussie imports over the years — from boomerangs to Foster’s Lager to soap star-turned-chart topper Natalie Imbruglia. And as excited as we are about inheriting Australia’s top comedy series, Kath & Kim (which stars Molly Shannon and a negligibly less-thin Selma Blair!), there’s one big thing from Down Under that has us even more revved up: Missy Higgins.
The shaggy-haired singer/songwriter who’s been singing professionally since she was still in grammar school, has already conquered the ARIA charts (an Aussie version of Billboard mixed with the RIAA) and thankfully Missy’s again trying out her luck in the States.
And even if you missed out on her first two albums — 2005’s The Sound of White and 2007’s On a Clear Night — you’ve likely already heard her new breathy, piano-centric pop smash, “Where I Stood,” (Think Sarah McLachlan channeling Norah Jones) on hit shows like The Hills, Grey’s Anatomy and Lipstick Jungle. And now’s your chance to see Missy tickle the ivories in this simple but oh-so-powerful video.
So check it out, give it up for Miss Missy’s undeniable skillz and resist the urge to bask in the Aussie awesomeness by heading towards the nearest Outback Steakhouse. Even if those Bloomin’ Onions ARE frickin’ unbelievable …
