The numbers are in and Britney Spears' Circus sold more than half a million copies, making her big-tent-themed album the #1 best-selling album for the week ending December 7, 2008, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Britney also beat out 2008 album debuts by the big 3Ms: Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, and Madonna, as well as Beyoncé, Kanye West, and Janet Jackson. One debut she couldn't beat was Taylor Swift's, but Britney's Circus is still projected to be one of the top-selling albums of the year. (Not that Katy Perry cares.)

Oh yeah, and if you're thinking about auditioning for Britney's "The Circus Starring Britney Spears 2009 Tour," you'd better start drinking that "special tea." Britney's dad Jamie's insisting that dancers get drug tests. Sorry, Amy Winehouse!
