Somebody's Heine', is crowdin' my icebox... oh yeah. Have you noticed that suburban MC Asher Roth's no-nonsense party anthem, "I Love College," has the same melody as Weezer's "Say It Ain't So?" Course you have. It couldn't be any more obvious.
Kinda like how the lyrics couldn't be anymore straightforward: That party last night was awfully crazy/ I wish we taped it/ I danced my ass off and had this one girl completely naked. Does anybody else get a whiff of R. Kelly from that chorus? "Trapped In The Frat House Part 19?"
Now, I realize that R. Kelly and Weezer aren't exactly peanut butter and jelly, but think about it: Where's the one place that those two would go together most seamlessly? Where would the crowd would go from pumping fists, screaming "DEAR DADDY! I'LL WRITE YOU!" to wagging their fingers in time with "After the party it's the HO-tel lobby!" without missing a beat? Ask Asher Roth. The answer is college. Once those co-ed heads get to bobbin', you could follow "Heartless" with David Hasselhoff and still keep the bodies movin'.
Finally, Asher Roth's editorial on what goes on after class may, at first glance, look like the kind of teen-sploitation that made my dad ban MTV in our house for all of 1992 (look at me now, pops!). But listen close. He may tell some tall tales about getting wasted, but he also reminds you to use plenty of condoms and to respect drunken women. Thanks, Asher!
