Vintage Video: Kanye West, The Ego Has Landed

Last week, Kanye declared himself "God's vessel" and described the impossibility of seeing himself perform as "the greatest pain in life." If that's not testament enough to the mesmerizing outrageousness of his ego, the fact that it's not really all that surprising, is. But he wasn't always so overblown. In this vintage clip, circa 2002, Kanye tells the MTV News team about his vision for the future. And although it does include a million dollar house, it also humbly acknowledges all of the hard work it takes to get there. Although there is one contributor to his unbelievable success that goes criminally unthanked. The mullet. Look at this little dude. Look at his eyebrows. He's precious.
