Recently, more's been made of Jessica Simpson's weight and denim cut-off short shorts than the fact that Arizona State University denied President Obama an honorary degree. Vanity Fair writer Rich Cohen even managed to use the word "fat" three times in one paragraph in his recent Jessica Simpson profile! Wow. It took him several more PARAGRAPHS to even get to the word "beautiful," which feels like a bit of an oversight, no?)

Seriously, who CARES how much Jessica Simpson weighs? Sure, she should've fired her stylist over the Mom Jeans incident of January 2009, but the girl was born gorgeous and looks great at any weight. And Jessica Simpson in short-shorts? Even better. Hello? She even PLAYED Daisy Duke. Why? Because girl's got legs for months.

So, while ASU skipped over Obama, we're giving Jessica Simpson Buzzworthy's all-time favorite short-shorter award. And she's also the official inspiration behind some of our all-time favorite short-shorts videos by Katy Perry, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Vanessa Hudgens, Gwen Stefani, Aerosmith and more...

Jessica Simpson -- "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" -- True, The Dukes of Hazzard movie was a total flop (or a box office smash if you're measuring it against the Glitter yardstick!) but Jessica did get in absolutely bananas shape to play Daisy Duke in the movie and its resultant video, which was so overtly sexy (duh -- Brett Ratner directed it) that it ended up banned in several countries. And true, the remake doesn't do the original much justice (I'm fairly confident the Nancy Sinatra version doesn't mention anything about "double Ds"), but sharing a set with Willie Nelson and the General Lee is still worth something, right? (Right?)

Katy Perry -- "Hot 'N' Cold" -- Katy Perry pulled off an impressive feat in her "Hot 'N" Cold" video; she managed to wear short-shorts in just about EVERY scene, including the scene where she tears off her wedding dress to reveal a hidden pair of white short-shorts -- which wind up being the perfect thing to wear while chasing her wayward groom down the street. And walking a zebra, obvs.

Britney Spears -- "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know" -- I won't let YOU be the last to know that at NO point in her 2001 "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know" beach video, directed by the late Herb Ritts (he also directed Madonna's "Cherish" and Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" videos) does Britney wear pants at ALL. In just a bikini top and a pair of I-can't-believe-they're-not-drawers cut-off shorts, Britney rolls around in the sand with French model Brice Durand. The video resulted in a TRL #1 hit for Britney, as well as what was probably a LOT of sand stuck inside dark, uncomfortable places.

Christina Aguilera -- "Can't Hold Us Down" -- Christina Aguilera rocked an extreme... ly short pair of pink ones in her 2003 video, "Can't Hold Us Down." But what Christina lacked in shorts she made up for with old-school knee-high tube socks. True to the named Stripped -- Christina's 2002 album which featured "Can't Hold Us Down" -- Lil' Kim, who guested on the track and co-stars in the video -- puts Christina's short-shorts to shame when she throws open her robe and reveals little more than a teeny weeny bikini. And a superfluous belt. She's subtle, that Kim!

Beyonce -- "Crazy In Love" -- In her 2003 "Crazy In Love" video, featuring Jay-Z, Beyonce wears a pair of barely there denim short-shorts. And my guess is that her choreographer stuffed the pockets of said shorts with fire ants because Beyonce writhes around on the ground, spazzes out, and almost twerks her way out of those shorts for nearly the entire duration of the time she spends in them. "Crazy In Love" won three 2003 VMAs (the VMAs where Britney and Madonna made out!) by the way -- Best R&B Video, Best Choreography, and Best Female Video.

Keri Hilson -- "Knock You Down" -- Keri Hilson looks like she frequently skips dessert and never skips a workout. Plus, if you've seen her "Energy" video, then you're fully aware that she's a lady boxer. (Plus, she shleps around a CRAPload of nail polish everywhere she goes.) Therefore her short-shorts are practically a necessity.

Vanessa Hudgens -- "Sneakernight" -- Which did you notice first in Vanessa Hudgens' "Sneakernight" video? Vanessa's light-up sneakers, or her micro-mini super-duper short-shorts? Or the fact that "Sneakernight" sounds exactly like Nikka Costa's "Like A Feather"?

If you're like Kim Scott, you prefer Eminem in short, repetitive doses. At least that's why I assume she married and divorced him so many times. Anything more than a blip would have been too much. Well, Kim... Boy have I got a video collection for you!

In case you haven't heard, Eminem is this week's Featured Artist on MTV. To mark the occasion, the 2009 MTV Movie Awards performer is releasing an exclusive five minute mini-movie of a return visit to his high school (a sort of Relapse, if you will). You better believe we'll be posting that one here.

But the movie's not ready to go, yet. So, to kick things off, we're rolling out a set of exclusive live videos that would make Kim's head spin. They feature Eminem just how she likes him -- performing "We Made You" and "3AM" in ten exceedingly digestible 30-second clips!

Watch "We Made You" and "3AM" below, get stoked for his Movie Awards performance May 31 and stay tuned for Eminem's trip back to high school, appearing here, the second it comes in!

You already know that Katy Perry wears some exquisite Bob Mackie vintage costumes in her "Waking Up In Vegas" video, but I was wondering about that queen of hearts dress she wears in the wedding scene.

I assumed Katy Perry's playing card dress was the work of pop designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, who made the infamous coat of many teddy bears Madonna wears in the film Prêt-à-Porter. He also also sent a coat made of Kermit the Frogs down the runway during Fashion Week in Paris this past March.

But Katy Perry's (very Lady GaGa) playing card smock dress is actually a creation by British designer Ashish,  and it's from his Spring/ Summer 2009 collection. Perhaps you can't tell in the "Waking Up In Vegas" video, but the card dress is made completely of sequins -- one of Ashish's trademarks. Want it? It'll set you back about $1,400. If you just beat the house at poker, get it at Selfridges, or via the Ashish site.

$5 Cover's two leading ladies (no offense, Kate Crowder, you're very cute) are smoking hotties on opposite ends of the spectrum. Memphis's leading men can't seem to decide which one to love, and so they often opt for both. You can imagine what a mess that gets to be!

Former Playboy model Clare Grant stirs up trouble everywhere she goes, and it's easy to see why (i.e. if you hate full-frontal nudity, definitely don't Google her!). The smoldering blonde is just crazy, dirty hot. Plain and simple.

Amy LaVere appeals to another side of the brain. Although her looks easily match Clare's, she's more subtle about showing them off. An easygoing girl-next-door, you can learn all you need to know about the natural beauty in one kind smile. She's also a super-talented musician with a seductively husky voice. Her alluring sensuality is on display in every soulful song.

So, what'll it be gentlemen? And you, ladies? Would you rather have the smokin' bad apple on your arm, or the sweet, Southern good ol' gal. If you had your pick of Clare Grant and Amy LaVere, which way would you go? Go beyond the headshots above and get to know Clare and Amy in the $5 Cover video profiles below.

Once your all-consuming crushes have set in, be sure to catch both Amy and Clare in action every week on $5 Cover! Stay tuned to Buzzworthy for a closer look at Memphis's leading men, coming soon.

Wesley. Wes. If you don't think an afterparty in a heated pool is good prom fodder, then you need to lower your standards, dude. Apparently V Factory's Wesley, like Matt Rubano of Taking Back Sunday, didn't think prom was all it was cracked up to be. Was it all that "Cha Cha Slide" that did it?

+ After the jump, check out Wes' prom memories, watch V Factory rehearse for a “Love Struck” performance, check out photos from their “Love Struck” video shoot, and get more celebrity prom stories.

Your relationship is stupid! Get out of it! Break up now! This is NYC R&B babe Chrisette Michele's advice to you. In fact, the smoky-voiced chanteuse wrote an entire album on the subject of crappy relationships. She named it Epiphany, after the eureka moment when she realized that her man was ruining her life.

Wait a minute! Does that make Chrisette Michele's interview on "The 5" kind of like... A video dating profile?? It does! So, what kind of date would Chrisette Michele be?

For one thing, she wouldn't spill any food on her lap. She gives the impression in her tour stories of being VERY neat. Also, she'd have no trouble keeping you engaged in conversation -- although I hope you're a listener. Chrisette credits her ADHD with much of her musical success, because it allows her to do six things at one time. But something tells me that listening isn't on that list.

Finally, you know she's gonna look good. Decked out in Marc Jacobs, this lady knows how to get dressed, so, bustas need not apply. Did I say "finally" already? That was a lie. The real finally is that Chrisette Michele can sing that ass off. If I took her out, you better believe I wouldn't bother saying a word. I'd be happy just to listen. Or watch America's Next Top Model with her.

Check out Chrisette Michele on "The 5," see what happened when she went to prom, and watch "Epiphany" after the jump.

Honestly, I had my doubts about the new Cold War Kids video. They've been preparing us for "I've Seen Enough" for weeks around here, promising a new interactive format that nobody has seen before. I thought it sounded gimmicky. I was way wrong.

"I've Seen Enough" (which you may remember hearing during episodes of the current season of The Hills) is on the same level of curious, creative ambition as the very first music videos. It's an art project. And as much as Cold War Kids have put into it, you are responsible for the final brushstrokes. A fully customizable viewing experience, you can alternate between four different sounds for each musician, or choose to turn them off completely.

This means that the Los Angeles indie rockers put in four completely different performances. Straightforward rock, sleazy lounge jazz, mellow acoustic and mild punk. And amazingly, they all work. In fact, I've been listening to different versions of it all morning and I still like the song more each time.

Play around with "I've Seen Enough" for a while, come up with your ideal arrangement of players and share it in the comments below so we can all try out your mix. You can see my favorite combo so far in the photo above. Let's see yours!

During a unit on the '60s, my high school sociology teacher brought in a set of photographs that he'd taken at our school as a new teacher, 40 years before. Each one came with an exaggerated story about cigarettes in the bathroom, girls being sent home for going bra-less and the like.

The photo that made the biggest impression on the class was of a hulking weirdo in a flannel shirt and what looked like shop glasses. Despite his tough-looking shoulder-length hair, he was the biggest goon we'd ever seen.

But Mr. Lemon told a different story. Apparently this guy had been the biggest deal in his class by a long shot, and spent four years being chased by all the ladies. We were blown away. How could a few decades have changed people's taste SO much?

Well, check out this 26-year-old video, in which KISS -- one of the biggest bands of their time -- manage to stop all MTV programming and pull an exclusive segment, just by taking off their make-up for the first time. That was 1983. Amazing how fast things change, eh? Can you imagine such a thing making you scream? More importantly, can you imagine what your kids are gonna think when they get a look at Bill Kaulitz? WEIRD!

With no further ado, we open the MTV Vault and travel back in time with (deceased original VJ) J.J. Jackson, to see KISS, unmasked!

+ Brooke Hogan has a new video out for her song called "Falling," off her forthcoming album. The song doesn't sound bad, but does anyone care? (PopCrunch)

+ Kanye West of course pleaded "not guilty" to misdemeanor charges stemming from last September's incident at LAX in which a photog's camera and equipment were thrown to the ground and smashed into bits. "Not. Guilty." (E! Online)

+ We meant to tell you about this yesterday, but the Black Eyed Peas new song "Imma Be" from their forthcoming album is reeeeeally hot. It's not their next single, but it should be. (Rap-Up)

+ And evidently Fergie is a hater -- a GERM hater, to be exact -- pouring hand sanitizer on just about anything (Josh Duhamel, we feel your pain). (Star Magazine)

+ Rapper T.I.'s jail sentence was falsely reported to have been reduced to just over two months -- which would have been good news for the guy who at least tried to do a little good before going to jail. The U.S. Attorney General's office clarified Tuesday afternoon that he will indeed serve all of his one year and one day sentence. (MTV News)

+ Hahah... looks like Lady GaGa's leotard leanings landed her in trouble with Russian authorities, who mistook her for a hooker. (TMZ)

+ Michael Jackson just selected the dancers that will be performing with him during his run at London's O2 arena. Recognize "Jersey" from MTV's Dancelife (spoiler alert: it doesn't look like she made the cut)? We're not gonna lie -- how in the HELL is MJ going to even move his body?? (Bossip)

Ayọ came up on a steady diet of Fela Kuti, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley, and it shows. As a kid in Germany, she studied at the feet of her DJ father, cultivating a wide-ranging taste for eclectic world music. Feeding a growing passion for music, she learned to play violin, piano and guitar, and wrote her first complete original song at 15.

Though her music isn't exactly the reggae and afro-beat of her influences, it is deeply infused with island swagger and African rhythms. What Ayọ adds to the mix, aside from spot-on pop sensibilities, is a confident and deliciously smoky new voice that exudes summer heat and vibrant colors.

She sounds like you'd imagine Lauryn Hill would, if she were waking up early on a beach vacation. And that free-and-easy vibe is contagious, so prepare yourself to be transported. Visit Ayọ's website for a refreshing taste of her unique sound, and a look at the tropical world premiere video for "Lonely." Also, check out Ayọ in a new series of Banana Republic ads, after the jump!
