Watch The Dead Weather's "Treat Me Like Your Mother" video, but please keep in mind, this is NOT how real-life bullets work. It's also NOT how you settle the dispute that may arise when you show up in the desert wearing the same leather jacket as someone else. It's also not the best way to handle relationship issues -- this is how you handle relationship issues, right Kanye? Also, I really hate gratuitously violent videos, but I am intrigued by the concept of a modern-day spaghetti Western with a possible Electra complex.

Watch "Treat Me Like Your Mother," the latest video by superband The Dead Weather -- The White Stripes/ The Raconteurs' Jack White, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age, Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs and The Greenhornes, and The Raconteurs and Alison Mosshart of The Kills. Super-cinematic directorial brushstrokes courtesy of filmmaker Jonathan Glazer, who directed the movie Sexy Beast, countless TV commercials, Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" and Radiohead's "Karma Police."

Thank you, Alexa Chung. At least YOU had a sense of humor about bitchassness! Unlike SOME people! Like Diddy. Who's apparently too cool to plunge a toilet. The NERVE. You DO want people to watch your show, don't you? (SPEAKING OF -- that show is CALLED Making His Band, and it starts tonight at 10pm.) Dude, Didatron DID NOT bring his "let's-go-people/lock-in" attitude today. But Alexa locked right in on her perfect style as always. Here's what Alexa Chung wore today on It's On With Alexa Chung. Besides a No Bitchassness shirt.

Monday, July 27
+ Shirt: Steven Alan
+ Shorts: Levi's
+ Espadrilles: LK Bennett

I've gone on and on about Steven Alan's marvelous buttondown shirts for a boy and a girl. Check out this purple Steven Alan buttondown from the pre-Fall collection. It's from the men's section, but ladies, come on. Wearing a men's shirt doesn't make you any less of a lady. It's $168 from Stevenalan.com.

Or get four Company 81 buttondowns (Brendon Urie's been seen in the label) for the price of one Steven Alan shirt.  $42 at Company81.com.

Finally, here's where to get some cute black lace-up espadrilles.

+ Joe Jonas and Camilla Belle are ENDSVILLE?? Put her name on a star and add it to the boulevard of broken dreams. <sniff> (E! Online)

+ A brand-new, gorgeously-shot video for Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone" has made its way to the Internets today, but the real story here is that hit songwriter Ryan Tedder (who also wrote some stuff for Jordin Sparks' new CD that just came out last week) actually gave the same backing track to Beyonce (she wound up using it for her 2008 hit "Halo"). Kelly realized what happened after it was too late, and now she's at odds with her label, RCA (again), about releasing the track. We don't think the songs sound that much alike and, personally, we'll take the Sinead O'Connor-esque sound of Kelly's song over Beyonce's constant oversinging any day of the week. (MTV News)

+ P.S. Here's Kelly performing the same song live on The David Letterman Show a couple of weeks ago. Which version do you prefer?

+ Ain't no way in hell Britney's kids gon be appearin' on that new K-Fed show, y'all. Fo REEL! (Evil Beet)

+ Is anyone getting sick of Katy Perry looking wide eyed and cute in whatever she wears, wherever she performs? Me either! (Neon Limelight)

+ Something else I never get sick of, you ask? Why, recent pics of Carrot Top out-and-about, doing anything or nothing at all, of course. (ICYDK)

Nelly Furtado is BACK! Do you KNOW how long I've waited to type those words? Not that Nelly ever fell off hard -- since her 2006 album, Loose, she's collaborated with James Morrison and Flo Rida, started her Nelstar label and signed the hypnotic Fritz Helder And the Phantoms, and she's been busy raising a family and apparently only getting more gorgeous and even more grounded. If she weren't both of those things, you'd almost wanna hate her. But don't hate, appreciate.

Nelly Furtado's next album -- Mi Plan -- is out this September, and it's her fourth album and her first album recorded entirely in Spanish. The first single is "Manos Al Aire," and it's a raw-and-real look at an attempt to stop fighting, lay down your arms and, and reclaim love before it's gone for good.

Go behind-the-scenes of Nelly Furtado's "Manos Al Aire" video shoot, and watch her shoot her new video and stay tuned for the full-length video coming soon.

This Providence: a band that began with an “awkward and weird” encounter in a locker room… I really need to hear more about these origins -- you don’t want to leave me to my own devices -- but alas, that is the only explanation we viewers get from the Discover & Download interview from This Providence regarding its possibly sweaty origins.

OK, we do get a little bit more, so you should watch the video below: The Fueled by Ramen band formed when rival Seattle band members Dan Young and Gavin Phillips agreed to set aside their differences and start making heartfelt, punky pop-rock together.

The guys also discuss their single "Letdown," off of their latest album, Who Are You Now. I'm not the first to say this, but Dan seems like the cute, sensitive type (and that's not a Seattle accent), so who is he letting down?

Anyway, check out This Providence on Discover & Download -- or catch them headlining with Hey Monday on the MySpace Music Let's Make A Mess tour.

K-pop girl group The Wonder Girls will continue its rampage of preciousness in L.A. and Atlanta throughout August as openers for the Jonas Brothers. But for the ticket-less, MTV Iggy has a little something special: a live Wonder Girls performance from the MTV studios in New York from way back in March. This video not only includes two Wonder Girls numbers, but also a bouncy intro from Ms. Perez Hilton, who's a big fan.

Sun, Yubin, Mimi, Yenny and Sohee range in age from 17 to 20, and as a group they make bank in Korea. Check the video below to see the girls perform single "Tell Me," and later get a little sultry and pout-y for "So Hot." By the way, the slips into English are adorable: I'm so hot... I'm so fine... I'm so cool...

You'll also meet the boy group known as 2pm (is anyone going to acknowledge that earth-changing booty shake?) and even see a little Wonder Girls behind-the-tour cuteness.

+ Emo kids, get out your eyeliner and prepare for a reapplication: Conor Oberst just announced that Bright Eyes will release its final album next year. Perma sad face. :< (Pitchfork)

+ I wonder if some days Lady Gaga just wants to put on a pair of sweatpants that say "PINK" on the ass, and like, a ratty t-shirt and walk to the store on the corner to buy a Nesquik and a Cowtail. I mean, sure -- she's not in a unitard or a crazy dress, but is this her idea of comfy/casual? Um, and check out the headline on her crotch. Stay classssssay, Gags! (Seriously? OMG! WTF?)

+ Nas was just ordered to pay almost $44,000 a month in child support to Kelis for the baby she had on Tuesday. Who wants to go to Discovery Zone??? Nas' treat!!! (Star Magazine)

+ In the wake of the Beastie Boys' sad announcement about Adam Yauch's cancer diagnosis, the Yeah Yeah Yeah's have stepped up to take their place at Lollapalooza. (The Tripwire)

+ And in a unifying show of solidarity, none other than Jay-Z is subbing out for the Beasties at All Points West. (The Tripwire)

+ Also, on the Jay-Z tip, weird or WOW that MGMT will be contributing to his next album? Boys better be gettin' paaaaaaaaid. (Reuters)

Wrapping up their intimate series of fan questions, Cobra Starship takes on Part 3 of their Buzzworthy Blog fan interview. (In case you missed Part 1 -- Cobra took on the uncanny similarities between themselves and Ashley Tisdale, and Part 2 featured grammar lessons and sex with Carmen Electra!)

Now, with just a few queries left, the boys pull no punches -- although they've pretty much had it with all you greedy multi-question-ers. There needs to be some semblance of order in these situations!

But you fans did kick this one off right by probing Gabe, Alex, and Ryland to find out:

+ Who would the guys go gay for (though apparently Gabe doesn't need to; he is already in a loving relationship)
+ Cobra's "suh-lammin'" outfits and where to find them
+ ... And the fate of a certain fan's panties.

No sooner had I THOUGHT the exact same thing than a fashion friend emailed me and said "today was my favorite Alexa Chung outfit yet." More on that best-ever Alexa outfit, and then I go on a SEQUIN SKIRT AND BOYFRIEND BLAZER BENDER!

Thursday, July 23
+ Blazer: Aryn K.
+ Blouse: Isabel Marant
+ Skirt: Wren
+ Shoes: Chanel

Alexa's sequin skirt is from Wren's Fall 2009 collection. That's Alexa's friend Tennessee Thomas -- and Alexa herself -- in Wren's holiday lookbook. Wren's sequin skirt is $348, and you can pick it up at Shopbird.com.

Go real-deal-Holyfield style on a sequin skirt. Seriously, it's not a piece to skimp on, otherwise shiz'll look cheeeeep and tacky. However, a sale's a sale, and this Aqua sequin skirt's on sale. It's $44 at Bloomingdale's.

Love this Re Collection sequin skirt too. It's $118 at RevolveClothing.com.

Listen, you NEED a boyfriend blazer in your wardrobe. At times it can be more reliable than an actual boyfriend. And I KNOW you probably think "Mom Jeans" when you hear Ann Taylor, but the times, they're a-changin', and I ASSURE you that Ann Taylor Loft has some ACTUAL FACTUAL cute stuff these days. Behold, their boyfriend blazer. It's $89.50 at Anntaylorloft.com.

If you refuse to believe me, then suit yourself... in this cropped boyfriend blazer from Urban Outfitters.

If Friendly Fires' "Kiss Of Life" reminds you of the Peter Gabriel song of the same name, it's because they're practically the same song. Though listening to Friendly Fries probably makes you feel less like you're listening to your dad's car trip music. However, I'm confident there's a subset of you that finds listening to Peter Gabriel cool, for ironic Dad-Music purposes, because you're a die-hard Say Anything fan (the move in this case), or because Peter Gabriel pretty much rules. (Which he does.)

Anyway, Friendly Fires -- you've heard them in that Wii Fit commercial -- are very much a British it-band -- so much so that they were just nominated for a 2009 Mercury Prize. Also, lead singer Ed Macfarlane totally sounds like Chris Martin and while both bands shot beach videos (remember Coldplay's "Yellow" video? Chris martin was so SAAAAAAD and COOLLLLLD and DREADFULLY DREARY on the beach! In a hoodie!), Friendly Fires' new "Kiss of Life" video is 1000 times less boo-hoo-I'm-on-the-beach-y. Also, "Kiss of Life" is one of those uplifting, life-affirming anthems like in a "Fields of Gold" way, but also, it lacks that same brand of "Fields of Gold" cheesiness that makes me want to jam one of those extra-long Bic grill lighters into each ear. (Ed Macfarlane also reminds me Richard Ashcroft if Richard Ashcroft hadn't gotten hit by the Unfortunate Bus and survived.)

Also, no matter WHAT you do or where you live, if you find yourself at a pool party this summer, drop the name Friendly Fires. You'll earn cool points IMMEDIATELY, and members of whichever sex you're attracted to will instantly find you 30 percent more attractive. You will be GOING places. Like directly into someone's pants.
