If Apple FINALLY created their record label -- that's GOT to be up there on the to-do list, right? Somewhere near political sovereignty and establishing its own religion? And shouldn't there be an app for that? -- UK pop singer Gary Go should be its first sign. The guy pretty much wrote Apple's next campaign: You too can be a pop star, with just a few iPhone apps and some angst! And hopefully half as much musical prowess as he's got. Gary, who put out two non-iPhone EPs a few years back, wrote several of his self-titled debut album tracks with just iPhone software. And these days he'll even get on stage and play his iPhone... Seriously -- some 70,000 people at Wembley Stadium just saw him perform on his iPhone.

So, the London-born Gary is clearly a tech geek -- the lyrics of one of his songs consist solely of fan Tweets -- but let's get back to the music: I would liken Gary's melancholy yet grandiose and uplifting brand of pop-rock to Coldplay or James Morrison, and I didn't expect that from Gary's campy stage name alone.

Gary Go and his debut single, "Wonderful," have already picked up steam in the UK, in large part because Gary opened for Take That on their latest tour, which broke the record for fastest-selling UK tour of all time! (And for you boy band fans keeping track at home, we really truly have heard of NO plans to get the Backstreet Boys back to the 2009 VMAs!)

Anyway, speaking of openers, not only did Gary also open for Lady GaGa for several of her concerts, Gary covered "Just Dance" (it's gloomy and acoustic... definitely a new spin!), and he saw GaGa's ... gagas! Gary told the UK's Daily Record:

"She was in the dressing room opposite me and someone shouted to her to come and meet Gary Go. She shouted back that she had no clothes on, but two seconds later she just came to the door with nothing on then quickly threw a little jacket on. It was quite a meeting and she is very attractive. She's a performance artist, so I guess she doesn't have any inhibitions, but it certainly had an effect on me."

I imagine it did, but what better way to be introduced to all that is Lady GaGa? I wonder if she treats all her openers to such a warm welcome?

Watch Gary Go's latest video, "Engines," and watch "Wonderful" after the jump!

Ladies night/day on It's On With Alexa Chung today! And with six ladies on Alexa's show today -- Alexis Bledel, Trinny and Susannah (yay! Now EVERYONE looks better!), The Beautiful Life's Sara Paxton, Screaming Females' Marissa Paternoster, AND, of course, Alexa, you got FIVE TIMES the fashion. But it's ALEXA'S show, so let's get to what she wore, okay?

Thursday, August 20
+ Sweater: Marc Jacobs
+ Shorts: Levi's
+ Boots: Chanel

I've got a hardcore unrequited crush on several Marc Jacobs sweaters, and I really wanna go steady with this Marc By Marc Jacobs "Bella Donna Bloom" sweater, which is kinda perfect for late summer and early fall. Bonus points for its slightly Twilighty name! It's $298 at Nordstrom.com.

I'm also hugely into this so-Selena Gomez black-and-white Marc Jacobs sweater, but it's hugely $1,395 at Brownsfashion.com.

Fun patent leather boots on a non-Chanel budget? Check out these studded Carvela ankle boots. They're $247 at Kurtgeiger.com.

+ Proving once again to be one of the most formidable forces in pop music, the Black Eyed Peas just set another Billboard record. (NME)

+ Why Courtney Love is Tweeting pictures of herself with a turtle on her head, we don't know. But thank you, Twitter. Thank you. (Pop On The Pop)

+ We've been telling our friends this about Lady Gaga for weeks but no one seemed to believe us. Thank you, Katy Perry, the voice of reason, for setting everyone straight. (PopCrunch)

+ Jordin Sparks has been announced as the opening act for Britney Spears' Circus Tour, as she kicks off the second leg of her North American tour tonight in Ontario. (Britney.com)

+ Jay-Z and his wife (some woman we've never heard of) were out trying to have a peaceful dinner when a pesky pap got all up in their biz, eventually throwing his tripod at one of Jay's bodyguards. Needless to say, that tripod is making for some fine coral off the coast of Croatia (cause you know, it's all tropical and shallow, where coral grows). (Pop On The Pop)

+ Happy Birthday, Demi Lovato! (Twitter)

One of the very special guests on today's episode of It's On With Alexa Chung was the luminous Sara Paxton -- she's in that new CW show The Beautiful Life, and she plays a beautiful model... with a BIG secret. (And if you've heard of The Beautiful Life, it's probably because Mischa Barton is/ was in it, Ashton Kutcher's producing it, and the ads feature NAKED MODELS! And naked Corbin Bleu!)

What ISN'T a secret though is how much I LOVE Sara Paxton's flower-covered Doc Marten "Lottie" boots! They're so fantastically 1990s. They're also like having an entire garden made just for your foot. Also, back in the day, my sister had a pair, and I made fun of her for them, but it was really because I was secretly jealous. But enough about my family dramz. If you're PRO flowery Doc Marten boots, get your own for $119.95 at Zappos.com.

Less awesome but definitely still intriguing are these flocked Docs, which come in black-and-white and several more color combos. They're $120 at DMUSAStore.com.

Oh, Chad! You're alllll growed up...

Does Kanye West's "Heartless" emit "cover me!" pheromones? There's Idol winner Kris Allen's acoustic version that, shall we say?, sealed his victory; there's the Lady GaGa live concert cover, along with Ace Hood's "Ruthless" take on the number... The "Heartless" melody and lyrics must strike fellow musicians as somewhat of a non-fit in the dreary, AutoTuned oeuvre that was 808s and Heartbreak, begging for modification. Or else everyone just can't get enough of that effing song.

I'll be the first to say, "Heartless" lends itself to several genres; and The Fray's latest cover -- as an aching, earnest pop-rock ballad -- takes on a solid life of its own. The Fray first covered "Heartless" at Live Lounge,  which begat other fantastic covers, such as Leona Lewis' cover of  Snow Patrol's "Run" (get out the tissues and download that now), but has since released a proper single and music video.

As you might expect, the music video is an extremely bleak and lonely affair: a lovesick schoolboy doodles in his math notebook, and a forsaken, bleeding heart trudges in a defeated journey to nowhere, which instantly recalls Gnarls Barkley's video for "Who's Gonna Save My Soul" as well as Spoon's "Everything Hits At Once" video.

I didn't quite expect this song to work with kids as subjects, but the solitary, cerebral aspect of doodling is somehow painfully sad here - and the video becomes lovely, if a bit disturbing, when doodles morph into elaborate and nightmarish theme-park monsters...

And by the way, Kanye approves. Phew.

Great. Just what Brooklyn needs more of, right? A pop-punk garagey all-girl band? Except while Care Bears on Fire have pre-teen marketability on their side, their music is what sells. And if you're wondering just how old these girls are, know that they've been at this for four years, so, in the wise words of gone-too-soon Aaliyah (never forget!), age ain't nothin' but number for them.

And while they're quick to discuss sparkles and stuffed animals (um, they ARE named after one), Care Bears On Fire keep their musical idols and tastes super sophisticated: Jack White, Patti Smith and Kim Gordon? Well, well, well. I don't even know who my idol was at that age... Britney, probably? A. J. McLean?

Watch Izzy, Sophie and Jenna's Buzzworthy "The Five" interview to find out what's really important things to CBOF: Monchichis, mascara, and raising praying mantises... the "fiercest" of which is named Michelle Obama. (What else would you name a truly fierce praying mantis?)

PS -- Don't know what a Monchichi is?? OMG!

Resistance is futile. You WILL submit to the Roc Nation. But AT least your hair'll look bananas and your standard-issue uniform will probably be a fur-lined Maison Martin Margiela leotard or a Balmain bustier. Now go watch Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West go Gladiator on you.

"Run This Town," the first single off Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3, was directed by Anthony Mandler at Fort Totten -- a former Army base in Queens. And my apologies to any of you pushin' RAV4s. You could do a lot worse than that.

MASSSSSIVE day on today's ep of It's On With Alexa Chung. I'm fairly confident a performance by Jonas Brothers' tour mate Jessie James would've tipped the Entertainment Scale to AMAZORZ. (Watch Jessie James' performance after the jump!)

But Queen of A Lot, Perez Hilton was here, in a fabs Lady Gaga t-shirt and limited-edition purple and gold Pumas. AND Andrew WK? That man is a genius (in someone's book)! Here's what Alexa Chung wore today!

Wednesday, August 19
+ Dress: Vintage
+ Shoes: A.P.C.
+ Bow: Jennifer Behr

Alexa's A.P.C. wedge gladiators are A.P.C.'s "Sparta" sandals, and they're $390 at usonline.apc.fr

YOU ARE WASTING YOUR OWN TIME if you're not all up on Etsy for vintage. Check out these super-cute black vintage dresses I JUST found on Etsy. They're all under $100, and they're DEFINITELY not gonna  show up on some copycat chicks at school. The first one's $39.50 from santokikivintage.etsy.com, the second is $45 at santokikivintage.etsy.com, and the black sequin dress is $58 from TheRareBird.etsy.com.

Pair a cute vintage black dress with some bad-ass conceptual tights from Henry Holland's new collaboration with Pretty Polly hosiery.

+ Plus: Watch Jessie James perform "Wanted" from today's episode of It's On With Alexa Chung after the jump!

+ Mariah Carey gave a big "F U" to the R.I.A.A. (Recording Industry Association of America) and their silly little Grammys by pushing back the release date of her new album to a day after the cut-off date for it to be considered eligible for this year's awards. Personally, we think she's pulling a bitch move in light of fellow megastar Whitney Houston releasing her new album on September 1st. Nothing like a little competition between two DIVAAAAAAAAAAAAAS, right lambies? (The Frisky)

+It's so wonderful seeing the excitement on Kanye West's face to be out and about with someone as overtly glamorous as Amber Rose (especially in a barely-there bikini, and by "barely-there" we mean linguine-draped meatballs with a leg of lamb. Seriously?? Her body was assembled by spare parts. AND WE LIKES IT.) (The Blemish)

+ New pictures have surfaced of a hotter-than-ever Ricky Martin hanging out on the beach with his angelic one-year-old twin boys. ME ENCANTO! (Socialite Life)

+ Apple now accounts for 25% of total music sales via iTunes. (CNN Money)

+ Oh, and in case you're one of like four people in the world who wasn't annoyed when songs would auto-play on MySpace Music, they've disabled that feature to save a buck or two. (TechCrunch)

+ Be on the lookout for Yeah Yeah Yeah's frontwoman Karen O and MGMT to guest on the new Flaming Lips record, Embryonic. Evidently Karen did her portion of the two songs she recorded right over the phone. (NME)
