Canadian electro-popper LIGHTS isn't just satisfied making insanely hummable synth-driven ditties, she's trying to get her sci-fi-Indiana-Jones on, too.
In this new music-video-meets-comic collaboration between LIGHTS and comic book artists Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman -- who've worked on such famed titles as Daredevil and Punisher -- LIGHTS is on a mission to "restore musical hope to the cosmos" by looking for sounds in the nooks and crannies of the galaxy.
As tends to happen with these kinds of missions, there are a few hiccups along the way. In Issue 1, Captain LIGHTS has a mechanical meltdown in a galaxy devoid of jams, forcing her to crash land on bummer of a planet.
Stay tuned for Issue 2 coming soon.

If you only splurge on ONE unnecessary item this season, you MUST get yourself into a pair of studded heels. My favorites are Rock & Republic's stud-and-spike embellished "Nika" leather heels. Kristen Stewart wore them with her Valentino dress to the VMAs, and Kara DioGuardi's been seen in the punk-inspired heels too.

The Rock & Republic "Nika" heels are $295 and come in grey, like Kristen Stewart's, fuchsia, and black, like their gorgeous black studded Christian Loubotin Pigalle 100 predecessors Blake Lively and Ciara have been seen in. (And was The City's Erin Kaplan was rocking a pair of TO-DIE-FOR studded heels on last night's premiere too!)

Check out more studded heels, from super 'spensy ones to studded heels that'll only set you back $22!

Daniblack's "Rebel" heels come in black, but the white patents are so Bowie! They're just $101 at Zappos.com. Marc By Marc Jacobs' black-and-white cone heels are super mod. They're $149.99 at Piperlime.com. Get studded all over for just $22.50 at WetSeal.com. I'm not making that up!

Boutique 9's black leather "Darcy" d'Orsay has a classic '80s punk-chic flair. They're $160 at Piperlime.com. French Connection's gold-studded black Jalayen booties are SOOOOO Rihanna. And those bad boy Marc Fischer pumps are just $89 at Macy's. (Look for more in Macy's stores soon.)

And if you insist on paying top dollar for your studded heels, go right ahead, Mademoiselle Moneybags. Christian Louboutin's Pigalle 100 studded heels don't mess. They're $995 at Net-a-Porter.com. Those mesh studded Jimmy Choos make me weak in the knees. They're soooo Madonna in "Borderline," and they're soooo $825 at BergdorfGoodman.com. Last but not least, Giuseppe Zanotti's studded, cap-toe, red-heeled stilettos are everything dragaliciously wonderful about shoes in one shoe. They're $680 at Colette.fr.

All-Time Low's Alex Gaskarth plays hot for teacher in this new video for his band's infectious sugar rush of a song, "Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't)." While the song itself documents a destructive relationship that makes Gaskarth feel like he's a chalk outline, All Time Low's video plays it all for laughs.
Gaskarth goes on a Jerry Springer/ Tyra Banks-style talk show expecting a makeover, but instead gets confronted with his illicit affair with Mrs. Inappropriately-Dressed-Moulder-Of-Young-Minds. There's some Yoko-Ono-style band drama, some throwing of potted plants; typical daytime trash-talk-show meltdown, all accompanied with hand-claps and whoah-oh-oh's.
It's not the first time Gaskarth has had problems with the ladies in his video; All Time Low's clip for "Weightless" placed him in a similar rock-and-hard-place type of position. It's hard out there for an emo-pop pimp.

Flyleaf's upcoming album, Memento Mori, out November 10, borrows its name from the Latin for "be mindful of death." Which is fine advice, albeit advice that Flyleaf is completely disregarding in their brand-new video for "Again."
The entire Texas five-piece spends most of their "Again" video engulfed in flames, charred paper, and devilish Edward Gorey drawings come to life. Drummer James Culpepper pounds away in the midst of an inferno, while singer Lacey Mosely's dress is clearly not flame-retardant.
None of this should come as a surprise to followers of Flyleaf's videography. Whether it's the raining blood of "All Around Me" or the school play from hell in "Sorrow," Flyleaf keeps the high-stakes, artful drama coming.

Kansas City kids Vedera throw together a couple of different tropes for their "Satisfy" video. I will now enumerate them for you thusly:
1. The bros-hanging-out-at-the-clubhouse vibe of Paramore's awesome "That's What You Get" video.
2. The playing-twice-as-fast/filmed-at-a-slower-speed effect popularized by Spike Jonze and Weezer in the video for "Undone (The Sweater Song)."
3. The appearance of completely inappropriate footwear given the action taking place. Check singer Kristin May rocking the ankle wrap heels while on what can only be described as a hike (one is reminded of Gaga wearing stilettos while using crutches in her "Paparazzi" video).
4. The near-skinny dipping at the end, artfully rendered in R.E.M.'s "Nightswimming" video and playfully played in Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle."
5. Not so much a music video trope as just silliness: May straight chucks her cell phone while hiking. At least take the SIM card, Sis!

It's time for another round of MTV.com's "What Were U Thinking" fashion re-hashing -- this time Nelly Furtado's in the hot seat! Check the interview below to get Nelly's take on her "expecting" red carpet gown -- a custom-designed piece she stands by, though she's rethinking the hair and jewelry (so glad you're back to brunette, Nels!).
Going back in time to when she was still developing Brand Nelly, Nelly Furtado's wardrobe consisted of fresh-out-the-box Fornarinas and Miss Sixtys. Ah, simpler times! But we love Nelly's more mature looks, especially those studded (though "non-violent") Miu Miu heels.
Check the next clip to hear the story behind Nelly's Juno Awards (the Canadian Grammys) hosting gig. Now this was some serious Brand Nelly development, with that crazy "I'm Like a Bird" costume (somewhat Gaga, no?) and harness -- though doubtful this outfit will make the heirloom pile alongside the one-of-a-kind Armani. But the feathers are still cute...

Someone holler at Thom Yorke: This is how you get down in a supermarket. You don't mope your way up the aisle singing about green plastic watering cans; you drop it low.
Ester Dean's new video, "Drop It Low" (not to be confused with "Dip It Low") -- the second single from the soundtrack to the Lebron James movie, More Than A Game -- starts with Nelly (yes, "Hot In Herre"/ Band-Aid Nelly) instructing Ester to keep watch over his bodega (so that's where he's been hiding himself).
No sooner can you say, "clean up in aisle three," then Dean has her ladies getting crunk in the store. The party then moves into the world's most inviting walk-in freezer, which doubles as a night club).
When things could not get any more off the meat rack, lo, Chris Brown makes an appearance, uttering unintentionally awkward lyrics about putting hands on a girl's body (um, yikes).
What any of this has to do with Lebron James and the bonds he forged with high school basketball teammates is anyone's guess. But between the frozen produce dance scenes and the egregious use of color, we're intrigued.

Where The Wild Things Are, Spike Jonze's long-delayed live-action adaptation of the seminal Maurice Sendak 1963 children's book, comes out October 16, and people are brokering ticket deals, already calling in sick from work, and generally sharting themselves with excitement.
Personally, while I love Arcade Fire and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, I'm absolutely terrified by the animated monsters and the thought of their enormous faces on the big screen. And by the idea of sleeping together in a real pile.
That said, I fully support Urban Outfitters' selection of Where The Wild Things Are apparel and accessories. Check out the t-shirts, tunics, and even hairy leggings inspired by the movie. All of the Where The Wild Things Are shirts, tunics, dresses, and leggings are under $60 (the tunics and hairy leggings designed by Brooklyn designer Mary Meyer are especially cool since they don't SCREAM "PROMOTIONAL TEE"), the wall art is $68.

Or, if you're just really into spending, drop $610 for Opening Ceremony's Max Suit.

After the jump, watch the Where The Wild Things Are trailer and Arcade Fire perform "Wake Up."

Mayday Parade's new video, "The Silence," follows the separate paths of a woman on the edge of a nervous breakdown, wandering and crying her way through the desert, with clips of the band performing in an abandoned trailer park.
There's some pretty special near-crabcore stage moves (note the wrapping of the mic chord around the forearm, pre-chorus, by singer Derek Sanders) being pulled off inside of a hot air balloon... a hot air balloon that the woman, despite having a broken heart and shaking hands, eventually pilots to nowhere in particular. It would seem that a broken heart and shaking hands are not a recipe for top-notch navigation skills.

After announcing their net swag surfing skills on their last video, "Dot Com," the New Boyz return with "Tie Me Down."
With a little bit of the love of Ray J., the New Boyz engage in a bit of social networking weird science, conjuring up friends and more-than-just friends with a click of a button (much like LMFAO did in their "La La La" video). Hot girls jumping though some kind of Matrix-style portal to hang out with you on your drab couch? There's an app for that. With technology like this at their fingertips, you can't possibly expect these either of these dudes to be one-woman kind of men... hence the song title.
