There's something a little off about The Raveonettes. The Danish duo specialize in love songs that split the difference between girl-group lullabies and fuzz-guitar alt-rock (think Jesus & Mary Chain and The Pixies). Oh, they also sound like they could soundtrack a David Lynch movie. So it's fitting that their video for "The Last Dance," the first single from their fourth album, In And Out Of Control, is both romantic and creepy.
You've got a happy couple, ice cream, and fireflies all scored by this beautiful song; a picaresque set-up. Cue incredibly unsafe operation of motor vehicles and singing taxidermy birds. Just when you thought it was safe to make this your early contender for alt-prom anthem, they veer off into Twin Peaks territory.
