I'll be the first to admit I'm a sports dunce; the origin of new-school-meets-old-school So Cal hip-hop trio Pac Div's name flew right over my head like a basketball in gym class. But when the guys start talking video games -- especially old-school games like "Metroid" and "Sonic" -- ah, tres bien, merci, now you are speaking my language. Dudes are even into "Halo." NERD ALERT!
Check out Like, Mibbs, and BeYoung's "The 5" interview to witness true love for gaming... and for sports (Pac Div refers to Pacific Division sports teams, in case I was not alone).
Pac Div, who've opened for Nas and recently released Church League Champions, offer a good old underdog story: rising from church league basketball to the NBA. (And a stint on as a junior college baller). Pac Div's Interests do go beyond sports too -- they're into Eckhart Tolle and Eat, Pray, Love on the lit tip and Radiohead and Flock of Seagulls on the iPod.
Watch Pac Div's new interview, and watch their hypnotic "Mayor" video.
In this new episode of MTV.com's "What Where U Thinking," style series, Kim Kardashian discusses her fashion hits and misses, but she put one thought in my Kardashian-worshiping head: WHERE'S THE FOLLOW-UP INTERVIEW ABOUT HER BLONDE HAIR? Kim's blonde hair will go down in WWUT history.
... But Kim Kardashian didn't come to MTV to talk hair (though she does acknowledge bouffants are not OK), she's came to talk fashion. And Kim's really in the thick of it: she's a red carpet regular, and she and the 'Dashiansdo own and run their own designer boutiques in L.A. and Miami.
Oh, and speaking of thick, Kim's weight loss needs to be in here. Of course Kim's not at Skeletorhan levels, but I still miss Kim's original curves!
UPDATE (9/29/2009) THE REAL-DEAL 'DO. Here's Bill Kaulitz and the boys in Madrid on September 29, 2009, and Bill's hair is freaking ENORMOUS!
Aufmerksamkeit, Tokio Hotel fans! Bill Kaulitz has new hair! Again! It's as if he and Rihanna in some kind of tacit competition to see who can change their hair with more frequency! And while I know some photos of Bill's new fauxhawk are floating around out there, Buzzworthy isn't in the habit of pilfering photos of our favorite Cherry Tree bands, so I dreamed up my own version of what Bill Kaulitz would look like with Rihanna's pseudo-fauxhawk. (I made it on Daily Makeover. Don't laugh! I paid four bucks for it!!)
Pretty hawt, no? At least it's hotter than Drew Barrymore's new two-tone hair. And somehow -- just SOMEHOW -- I bet Bill manages to pull off the fauxhawk even better than Blake Lewis does.
Not that this bit of frosting should overshadow everything Jordin Sparks' new video has going for it, but we must -- MUST! -- discuss the nails. Strands of gold chains are glued to Jordin's nails, right? They're freaking "weapons of choice." Jordin even texts with those things!
Now when she's not going all creationist on me, I'm a die-hard Jordin Sparks fan: next to Kelly Clarkson, Jordin is my favorite of the Idol crop; and "Battlefield" was pretty lifechanging. While her new "S.O.S" track -- a revamping of 1980s freestyle singer Shannon's "Let The Music Play" -- could have easily gone to a less talented singer, I'm psyched ballad-leaning Jordin took on a sassy, sexy, pop star number. Whether or not Jordin went into this video shoot feeling she had something to prove, she knocks it out: it's everything you could want from a diva, with those moves and that hair!
I mean... we'll see if the nails catch on, but the video's a keeper -- watch it below, and watch Jordin perform "S.O.S. (Let The Music Play)" on VH1 Divas 2009. And watch Shannon's "Let The Music Play" after the jump.
I know Drew Barrymore did this RIDICULOUS skunky black-tipped two-tone dye job a good few days ago at a press event for her new film, Whip It, at the Toronto Film Festival, but it's taken me about that long to let it sink in. Thankfully Drew stopped celebrating Halloween in September and returned to 100% blond -- and not just 75% -- for the Emmys this past Sunday. Which is good, because Drew's feather duster disaster was even worse than her Tippi Hedren hair at the 2009 Golden Globes.

Did you see the Emmy Awards last night? Probably not, because they might as well have been called the Boring Awards. I'm sorry, but the Emmys are boring! Best Editing In A Mini Series? Zzz. Where was Kanye West when you actually could've used him? At least Neil Patrick Harris breathed some life into it and threw a little Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog into the show. Otherwise, Boresville. EXCEPT...
DID YOU SEE JANUARY JONES' DRESS! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHO JANUARY JONES IS? I don't care if you're a Mad Men fan or not. January Jones (or at least her stylist), who plays Betty Draper, deserves an Emmy, an Oscar, a CFDA Award, a VMA, a blue ribbon, a freaking Palme d'Or, Heisman trophy, and an honorary Doctorate for the mint-green Atelier Versace corseted dress she wore to the Emmys last night. I want to be buried in that dress. Seriously, I'd stand up and salute that. January Jones, you had me breathing into a bag.
Sorry. I just had to take a moment because I'm having a moment.
Now who didn't enjoy Sean Kingston's, RedOne-ified, track "Fire Burning" (not that you, nor I, nor anyone else in America, had a choice in the matter)? But with remembered lyrics such as, "My pocket started tickling, the way she drop it low," and "She get it pop it lock it drop it, That birthday cake," I was completely refreshed when Kingston's second single off his new album, Tomorrow (out September 22) gave honest accounts of rejection and insecurity.
While it's still a moving and shaking track, Kingston shares the pain of a girl who said he'd "look better if he was thinner"; well, girl, "you should have loved him for his inner" ... no joke, 'cause Sean's "inner" is Lil' Sean, a wacky, CGI-dancing sprite who can walk on water.
In the "Face Drop" video, the same pretty much applies to all romantic rejects, who join Sean Kingston in a swirl of purple lights and rainbows to kick up an animated dance party on top of a pool. Don't believe me? Just watch the Ro Rao-directed video yourself. The featured style of animation, also on Kingston's Tomorrow album cover, is very Graduation-era Kanye West (sunglasses and everything), minus the interruptions.
While this year's show didn't star a celebrity on the catwalk, stars like Lindsay Lohan, Taylor Momsen, Asher Book, Corbin Bleu, Christian Siriano, Eric Balfour, Tyson Beckford, Kat Von D, Gabe Saporta, Kara DioGuardi, Peaches Geldof, Jared Leto and Juliette Lewis surrounded the runway as G-Star presented a very retro-futuro rock-n-resort collection to David Bowie's "Rebel Rebel."
