Norwegian electro-rock duo Datarock -- made up of Ketil Mosnes and Fredrik Saroea -- borrow a bit from the wonder and whimsy of John Hughes in their new clip for "The Pretender."
The empty department store setting and the sense of wonder and possibility juxtaposed with an air of suburban malaise totally calls to mind the underrated Hughes-scripted gem, Career Opportunities.
The song, which has wanderlust lyrics about being South Korean and North American, has an infectious Talking Heads-like sense of playfulness to it, something the video -- with its costume changes and magical stunner shades -- matches perfectly.
