American Idol may have deemed Allison Iraheta 4th place when she competed against Kris Allen and Adam Lambert for the hearts and votes of the USA. But, to judge by these new, exclusive MTV photos, it certainly isn't getting her down.
Iraheta, who released her debut album Just Like You earlier this month, is looking pretty in pink in these shots. The pics give off the kind of light and dark (emotional) balance that characterizes Iraheta's less-aggro-Pink/less-intense-Pat-Benatar sound. The pink and purple flashes say, "Oh! Hai!" While the leather jacket says, "Don't mess with this girl."

The whispered, maudlin voices that The XX layer over their glistening Goth 'n' B dark atmospherics with slight soul overtones lends an air of mystery to this young British group. So we thought it'd be best to put 'em through "The 5" wringer and see what we could find out about one of 2009's most promising debutantes.
In this exclusive MTV chat with The XX, we learn that the unique sound found on the group's debut, XX, is born out of a familiarity shared by band members Oliver (bass/vocals) and Romy (guitar/vocals); the two have been pals since kindergarten!
We also get some insight into the songwriting process that creates such stellar tracks as "Shelter," and "Basic Space," the sounds coming out of South London, and what they would be doing if they weren't in a band.
Check out this episode of "The 5" and feel more than free to fire up the video for "Basic Space," both posted below.

We last heard from neo-soul crooner Raheem DeVaughn when we checked out his sultry, socially conscious track,"Bulletproof," featuring Ludacris.
So after hearing a bit of his music, it's time to hear a bit about the man behind that music. In this episode of "The 5," DeVaughn describes himself as, "the R&B hippie, neo-soul rockstar." He quickly gets down to brass tacks, telling fans that if they're bring him gifts, make sure they're coming with a cool pair of sneakers (size 9 1/2).
He goes on to talk about his forthcoming album, The Love & War MasterPeace, and his plans to be his own biggest supporter.

Honor Society's "White Christmas" video is the gift that keeps on giving. And not only did Honor Society grace you with the gift of their very own cover of the Irving Berlin classic -- their modern-rock version goes hand-in-hand with their Salvation Army "Doing The Most Good" fundraising campaign -- but they also just pulled the wrapping off of two behind-the-scenes videos from their "White Christmas" video shoot in New York City, featuring Honor Society fans. Check 'em out below!

You gotta get up pretty early in the morning to smoke one by Detective Inspector Britney Spears. Especially if you're trying to peddle some ludicrousness (yes, ludicrousness!) about her.
Her "Britney Spears" Google Alert will go off on her PDA and she will put Sean P. or Jayden J. down, cease whatever it is she's in the middle of (such as making dope videos like "3"), and she will nail you to the wall, homie.
Don't believe me? You better browse over to BritneySpears.com, Britney's official home on the web, where she is getting knee-deep in some fact-finding and B.S.-dispelling.
75 tabloid/gossip stories have been posted over at Spears' site as examples of the kind malarkey that the press has written about her.
Such gems as "Beau Says No To Britney's Proposal," "Britney's Dad/Manager Makes List Of Boys For Britney To Date" and "Britney Spears Wants To Become A Baptist Minister" are all taken out behind the barn and put down for their own good.
Enjoy all the lies and hearsay over at BritneySpears.com, and check out her vid for "3" below.

When the dynamic duo of Shwayze, made up of Cisco Adler and group namesake Shwayze, aren't making sun-baked, California-style mellow-hip-pop, they're taking part in any number of hobbies and side hustles.
Nice bros that they are, Cisco Adler and Shwayze sat down with us for a new installment of "The 5" to explain all about their lives inside and outside of music.
First off, it may come as something of a surprise to find that they are rather accomplished basketballers (we'll have to take their word for it). They even welcome all on-court challenges, sparking this writer to imagine a White Men Can't Jump remake starring the pair.
When they're not hustling fools on the court, they enjoy a good meal; that's where Adler comes in, proclaiming himself a lamb chop master and corned beef and cabbage wizard.
Hear all about the secret lives of Shwayze in this episode of "The 5." And, as a bonus, zone out to their video for "Get U Home" (taken from their November-released Let It Beat album).

OBVIOUSLY you know that Kevin Jonas married Danielle Deleasa this weekend in a picture-perfect snow-capped wintery, wonderful ceremony at a castle on Long Island. OBVIOUSLY you know that Danielle wore a Vera Wang gown, and that Kevin and Danielle exchanged Jacob & Co. rings, and thanks to Michael W. Smith's Twitter, we know that he sang "Love Of My Life" during the reception. (Also, Demi Lovato and Nicole Anderson played bumper wheelchairs, which strikes me as kiiiiiiiinda insensitive.)
But what you may not have seen of Kevin and Danielle's wedding was this insider video shot by some extreme Jonas Brothers fans who created their own "insider's look"* at the wedding of the first Jonas Brother off the market. If you want the real drama, skip ahead to about 2:21 in.
* Um, this is obviously a joke. We wish Kevin and Danielle lots of happiness and MEDIA PRIVACY! And everyone else, relax! Nick, Joe, and Robert Pattinson are still on the market! Hooray!

With its storming Timbaland-esque beat and R&B flavor, "Reloaded" is something of a different look from Lady Gaga. It was born from the same Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins sessions that produced "Telephone," but didn't make The Fame Monster's track list. And, we gotta say, there's no evident reason why that is. "Reloaded" is a banger, with Gaga's vocal melody on the verse eerily reminiscent of Prince's on "When Doves Cry." Jerkins' beat hearkens back to his classic work with Destiny's Child ("Say My Name") and Jennifer Lopez ("If You Had My Love").
Ultimately, I think what kept "Reloaded" off The Fame Monster is the lack of glam, the lack of epic sweep and, perhaps most importantly, the lack of Gaga flair. "Bad Romance" is unmistakeably Lady Gaga, a track only she could have made. "Reloaded," while a dope song, sounds like something any number of R&B and pop stars could have recorded. (Which doesn't mean we don't love it.)

OK, granted New York City was completely blanketed in snow and it was frackin' freezing when Rihanna and Jay-Z shot their performance of "Run This Town" this weekend for their NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly special. But is that an excuse to get dressed up like a human version of a polar bear?... Or a yeti? Judging by Rihanna's expression, she's not pleased. I guess I can't blame her -- it gets cold wearing just tape over your boobs! ("Hard" anyone?) Or... no shirt at all.
