When Jay-Z resurrected his Blueprint series with Blueprint 3, he did it by putting one of the most prevalent trends in pop music on blast. The album's lead single, "D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune)," was a shot across the bow to those artists who take the easy way out -- keeping their voice in key (kinda) with the help of Auto-Tune and generally, unabashedly, sounding like T-Pain. (Or Cher.)
When "D.O.A." dropped, radio DJs gabbed and bloggers blogged with breakneck pace about how the game would be changed. Auto-Tune boxes would be gathering dust in studio closets in no time.
Wrong. Auto-Tune weathered Jay-Z's storm (not an easy feat), and many of the year's biggest hits wound up containing the equally maligned and popular piece of trickery.
Check out Hov's anti-Auto-Tune salvo as well as some of the better (Mario's delicate "Break Up"), sillier (Ron Browz's "Pop Champagne") and more comical (Jamie Foxx's "Blame It") uses of the gimmick, below in MTV's Auto-Tune Ain't Dead Yet video playlist.

Since today's the day Rihanna's "Hard" video finally drops, let's take a look at some seriously aggro, tough-as-nails footwear. Specifically, I'm referring to Christian Louboutin's "Big Kiss" flats, which are completely covered in angry-looking metal spikes. The bad ballerina flats are from the Christian Louboutin Resort 2010 collection and retail for around $899. They'd also go perfectly with your studded headband. Or your Adam Lambert metal half glove. But not with your Madonna "Celebration" Balmain dress, because that's just WAY too matchy-matchy. Also, where's Jennifer Lopez's "Louboutin" video when you need it?

Lindsay Lohan's Twitter (@LindsayLohan) can be a dizzying read full of near nonsense, existential pop culture questions like "where is @ladygaga today?" and random emoticons directed at the likes of John Mayer and Samantha Ronson. It can also get her in trouble, like when she (allegedly) exaggerates about freeing Indian child laborers.
But at least for today it served a basic and sweet purpose: sending out a Christmas wish. Lindsay Lohan recently told her 214,721 followers that, "for this xmas I want to be in @AdamLambert's next video."
Lambert has yet to respond to the plea. Let's just hope that whatever Lambert's next clip looks like, it's a little less apocalyptic than the "Time For Miracles" video. The end of the world would really cramp Lindsay's style.

Call in the troops! Call in the calvary! Rihanna's ready to fight a war of words and aggression with heavy weaponry, heavy eyeliner, a pink tank, Mickey Mouse ears, and her swagger gun sent to stun in her new video, "Hard." Rihanna's had a tough year, and now it's time to blow shiz up.
In the "Hard" preview and photos from the set, Rihanna made it clear that the look of "Hard" is total military couture. But aside from the obvious salute to the unlikely intersection of high fashion and the armed forces, (and fighting as metaphor for her tough-as-nails attitude), this is Rihanna (doing her best Grace Jones) in her role of a lifetime -- Queen Bitch Bawse. Like a total boss, Rihanna cleans house at poker, puts bloggers on blast (um...), symbolically drags you through the mud, and pretty much destroys everything in her path. Grabbing her crotch and sneering, Rihanna gets to be a dude for a day. This is Rihanna not giving a f++k, but, again, Mickey Mouse ears, you get the sense that despite the endless reminders of how hard she is, Rihanna's hard-ness comes with a sly wink and a smile.
Watch Rihanna's "Hard" video, featuring Young Jeezy, directed by Melina.

OK Go, the quirk-pop four-piece from Chicago, are no strangers to having their videos gabbed about and replayed multiple times.
Their "Here It Goes Again" clip, with its viral feel and incredible synchronized/choreographed treadmill-hopping, was one of the first to incorporate the spirit and charm of the Internet into the realm of music videos.
With their third album, Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky, in the can and ready for a January release, Damian Kulash and his gang of merry pranksters are back for some more visual hijinks.
In "WTF?" (more Internet!) they go big on small-time special effects. With Kulash singing this funk-rock ditty, a variety of effects are applied to a variety of movements, making the video increasingly psychedelic as it goes on.
Check out the Tim Nackashi-directed "WTF?" and the classic "Here It Goes Again" below.

You gotta give Kristen Stewart this: she doesn't take the easy way out. First, she cannon-balled into the stardom pool by playing the heroine of the Twilight series, Bella Swan, which was no easy task given the proprietary feelings millions of Twilight readers had over the character.
Now, as if carrying the burden of countless Twilight fanatics wasn't enough, she's taken on the role of one of the more iconic female rockers of the last 30 years: Joan Jett.
Stewart stars as Jett in The Runaways, which happens to be the feature directorial debut for acclaimed music video auteur Floria Sigismondi (Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People") and also happens to co-star Dakota Fanning as Jett's Runaways bandmate, Cherie Currie.
So now it's time for a little compare and contrast. Check out the trailer for The Runaways (coming in March 2010) and then watch The Runaways (the band) perform their hit, "Cherry Bomb."

When I was 9, I think I danced to "Ring Around The Rosie." But in the Cyrus family, when you're nine, you dance to Akon. Specifically "Smack That," which is exactly what Miley Cyrus' little -- and I DO mean little -- sister Noah dances to in this behind-the-scenes video of the Cyrus sisters. You know, the song that goes on to request that someone "smack that, til you get sore." Awww. She's just... bein' Noah? What's next? Noah Cyrus dances to Pitbull's "I Know You Want Me"? (Como?) Performs a dramatic interpretation of R. Kelly's "Ignition"? To quote Ferris Bueller's Day Off: "So THAT's how it is in their family."

Justin Timberlake is a R&B/Pop sex machine, the paramour of Jessica Biel and the object of countless people's (likely naughty minded) affections.
So why did he show up to the Golden Globes nomination ceremony yesterday looking like Corey Haim from Lucas?
As a dude who wears glasses, I think I can safely speak for a lot, if not all, dudes who wear glasses that we'd probably rather stare meaningfully into Jessica Biel's eyes WITHOUT GLASSES. And you better believe we/I would not be staring into her eyes with prescription-free specs that we'd be wearing for purely cosmetic purposes. As Ed Lover would say, C'Mon Son!
I think this is a pretty new look for J.T., as he seems to be following in the footsteps of Jay-Z's short-lived dalliance with the black frames. Both of these cats, I believe, were following Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak-era Pee Wee Herman look.
If Jay and Justin are actually cripplingly near-sighted and have been wearing contacts for years, in fear of ridicule from an insensitive public, then I get it. But if they think rocking these things will make them a.) seem smarter or b.) make them look cooler, then I don't know what to tell 'em. Other than they are misinformed. It's a crazy world y'all. Let's remember those spec-free Timberlake days with a little "What Goes Around."

To paraphrase "The Situation" from Jersey Shore, if you're a hater, Nickelback has a full-time job for you. People may grouse, they may snark, they may roll their eyes, but Chad Kroeger just shakes his frosted locks and shows you the hand while he and his band Nickelback move unit after unit.
It's that very moving of units that moved Billboard to award Nickelback with the title Band Of The Decade. Regardless of how you feel about Kroeger & Co.'s jams, you can't argue with math (well, you can, but you will lose).
All of Nickelback's 00's albums--including The State, Silver Side Up, The Long Road--did serious chart damage, especially All The Right Reasons, which spent more than 150 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. That's like 200 dog years right there.

In what has to be one of the cutest viral/Internet sensation thingamabobs to come down the chimney in a minute, we're happy to throw some shine on Evan Taubenfeld's "Merry Swiftmas."
Taubenfeld is a former member of Avril Lavigne's band, and he recorded this genuinely sweet love-letter/Christmas wish -- complete with a pretty singalong chorus and references to Megan Fox, Scarlett Johansson and Kanye West -- as a tribute to his favorite country-pop gal, Taylor Swift. After Taylor heard the song, she tweeted about it, helping it become one of those web sensations we all live for.
Now Evan Taubenfeld has made a homey, lo-fi video for the song, featuring a cameo from Taylor herself. Enjoy the video below, and Merry Swiftmas/ Happy Taubmukkah to you all.
