Neon Trees are a new-new-wave band from the down-and-dirty rock town of Provo, Utah. While the quartet, whose debut album, Habits, will be released later this year, hails from the rather pious "Industry" state, they actually share quite a bit in common with their friends from Sin City, The Killers. After all, it was Brandon Flowers & co. who plucked Neon Trees from Utah-ish obscurity and brought them out on the road with them, exposing them to thousands of excitable music fans (including Nick Jonas.)
The Killers seem to have made quite an impression on Neon Trees who chose the desert as the setting for their debut video, "Animal," much like The Killers did for their virgin video, "Somebody Told Me."
Of course, none of this should detract from the obvious charms of "Animal." The song is a racing, drum-machine-aided sing-a-long that combines the twee move of hand-claps with arena-ready "oh-oh's," suitable for a U2 song.
