When you listen to Beyonce's "Halo" -- the patented Ryan Tedder melody, the beat collapsing on itself, Bey's increasingly dramatic delivery -- you probably don't think to yourself, "This is pretty good, but what it really needs is some gruff, grimy dancehall toasting from Jamaican music legend Elephant Man."
If you did think that, well, you're probably Diplo. The chief genre blender/producer/superstar DJ/half of Major Lazer, spent most of his GRAMMY night on Sunday sending out tweets that varied in their levels of veracity from probable to patently false (having a hard time believing M.I.A., Susan Boyle, and Perez Hilton were partying in the same space).
One that turned out to be at least half true was this: "SERIOUSLY CANT BELIEVE beyonce won a GraNNY when My VErSiOn of HaLo with elefant man + @majorlazer is SoOO MUCH BETTER!"
Spelling, caps and grammar aside, Diplo wasn't joshing about the existence of his Elephant Man-aided version of "Halo." Whether it's better than Beyonce's original? Only you and time will tell.
