Big news from the world of Death Cab For Cutie: DCFC guitarist/producer Chris Walla is saying, 'Pshaw,' to these desperate economic times and wading into the murky, unknown waters of small-business ownership with his own record label called Trans. Congrats, brosef!
Unlike most small businesses, Walla's new venture will operate under the protective wing of Atlantic Records, which is currently Death Cab's home base. According to BeatCrave, the label will kick off with the release of material from up-and-coming band The Lonely Forest, who hail from Walla's Pacific Northwest musical stomping grounds.
Aside from his work behind the boards with Death Cab, Walla has done production work for the likes of Tegan & Sara, The Decemberists and The Thermals. It's a successful track record that will undoubtedly serve him well while he scouts for new bands to release on Trans.
Nothing really signifies Walla & Co.'s success like their video for "Meet Me At The Equinox," the lead single from the New Moon soundtrack. Let's take a look back with the video below and applaud Chris on his new venture!
