When it comes to creative music-video concepts, the members of OK Go seem to be in constant competition ... with themselves! Ever since releasing their treadmill-themed clip for "Here It Goes Again," off the band's 2005 album Oh No, the band has constantly challenged themselves to reinvent the music-video wheel. With their newest clip for "This Too Shall Pass" (off the group's new album Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky), we'd say, "Mission accomplished."
In what appears to be one take, the members of OK Go weave in and out of a warehouse equipped with all of the necessary objects, items and contraptions to create a two-story, fully functioning Rube Goldberg Machine. Not sure what a Rube Goldberg Machine is? Well, according to Wikipedia, it's "an overengineered machine that performs a very simple task in a very complex fashion." Sounds fancy—and it is.
It took the band three months to prepare this expansive contraption with the help of friends from NASA and Jet Propulsion Labs. You know things are serious when NASA gets involved! Watch the video for "This Too Shall Pass" and grab some paper towels because your mind is about to be blown.
