One of summer's great pleasure is the abundance of festivals held in parks, sheds, parking lots, stadiums and amphitheaters across the country, where you can catch some rays, catch some tunes or just catch your breath, at the very least.
While big to-dos like Pitchfork and Lollapalooza might grab all the headlines, the annual Roots Picnic, curated by the Philadelphia hip-hop group and held on Philly's waterfront, is consistently one of the most exciting gatherings of musical talent you'll find anywhere.
This is the third year for the picnic, and the proceedings will be headlined by everybody's favorite Ivy League tennis enthusiasts, Vampire Weekend. If that weren't enough, there have been hints dropped in Twitterville that the surviving members of Run-DMC might reunite for the show, in addition to an appearance by Amy Winehouse. (I'll believe that when I see it.)
The third-annual Roots Picnic will be held June 5 at Philly's Penn's Landing pier. You can buy tickets tomorrow at LiveNation.
