Happy Friday, boys and girls in America. We've got a real treat for you. Feast your ears on "The Weekenders," a new track from The Hold Steady, taken from the group's upcoming album Heaven Is Whenever.
With albums like Separation Sunday and the oh-so-wittily-referenced Boys And Girls In America, this Brooklyn-via-Minneapolis group has been pumping out USDA-approved rock 'n' roll for the past six years. The band excels at teenage symphonies a la Bruce Springsteen, with tons of volume and hyper-literate lyrics, courtesy of frontman Craig Finn.
Their latest musical offering, "The Weekenders," is an instant anthem and a quiet-to-loud-to-awesome jam about nostalgia. If it's any indication of the treasures that Heaven Is Whenever holds, then we are in for quite a treat.
Check out "The Weekenders" below. Heaven Is Whenever is out May 4.
