MTV P.U.S.H. Artist Of The Week: B.o.B.

This week’s MTV P.U.S.H. (Play Until Someone Hears) Artist is Atlanta rapper B.o.B. Born Bobby Ray Simmons, the rapper/singer/musician is one of hip-hop’s brightest stars and biggest innovators. And while he’s about to drop his first full-length debut album, B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures Of Bobby Ray (April 27), he’s no newcomer. He caught producer Jim Jonsin’s ear years ago, got signed and ended up collaborating with everyone from Cobra Starship, T.I., Eminem, Rivers Cuomo, Hayley Williams, Ludacris, Charles Hamilton, Solange Knowles, Jannelle Monáe, Pitbull and even Amy Winehouse. Even Justin Bieber’s even got him on repeat.

Like Jannelle Monae, and Lupe Fiasco (both Janelle Monae and Lupe Fiasco guest on B.o.B.’s album), B.o.B’s got one foot in this this world and the other in another galaxy, cranking out consciously connected beat-backed hits — from trunk-vibrating heavyhitters to funk-laced slow jams — that evoke existential admissions and otherworldly yearnings.

If B.o.B. isn’t on your radar yet, then now’s the time to get familiar. Watch B.o.B. introduce you to… B.o.B. in these brand-new MTV P.U.S.H. interview clips. And watch B.o.B.’s “Nothin’ On You” video, featuring Bruno Mars, and “I’ll Be In The Sky,” and watch him perform both at MTV Spring Break 2010. And stay tuned for more from B.o.B.
