Overshadowing (or SERIOUSLY HELPING) the promotion and impending release of Christina Aguilera's new album, Bionic, has been the incessant questioning, pondering and theorizing over whether or not Christina's intentionally swagger jacking Gaga's steeze.
We delved into this turf war ourselves, investigating the claims of Gaga's little monsters and the counter-claims of Aguilera's partisans about who influenced what and when.
Over the course of her press tour, Aguilera has vacillated between faint praise and mild derision for Gaga. She seemed to have finally given up any air of ambiguity by responding to Out magazine's asking her about Gaga, "Oh, the newcomer? I think she's really fun to look at."
So icy. Or not. Because, according to a statement posted on Christina's site, these comments were taken out of context and printed to "create unnecessary drama -- especially between us women." Christina herself had this to say about Lady Gaga:
"I have absolutely nothing against Lady Gaga or any other female artist in this business. I think she is great, and I appreciate any woman fearless enough to go against the norm. She has earned her success with hard work and a clear focus, and I have nothing but respect for that. There is room for all of us on everyone’s iPods."
So that's settled. At least until the next interview.
