When we first heard about Steel Train, it was the lonely classic rock-inspired band on Drive-Thru Records' primarily pop-punk roster. In the years since releasing its 2005 debut album Twilight Tales From The Prairies Of The Sun, however, the band has kicked dust in the eyes of its Warped Tour brethren and forged a pretty impressive path on the indie-rock circuit.
Instead of signing with a label, the band decided to release a new self-titled album on its own imprint, Terrible Thrills. Filled with Modest Mouse-sounding romps (like "Turnpike Ghost") and ambient arena-rock jams (like The Killers-esque "Behavior"), Steel Train's third album is probably its best yet, and we can't wait to see the band perform new songs like "Bullet" and "Children Of The '90s (I'm Not The Same)" when it hits the road this summer.
Did we forget to mention that these guys are also totally easy on the eyes? Singer Jack Antonoff, former paramour of Scarlett Johansson and Alia Shawkat, can fuel our engine any time. Or, he could just introduce us to his fashion designer sister, Rachel. Her clothes are dope!
Steel Train's new self-titled album will be released June 29. In the meantime, check out the video for "I Feel Weird," off Steel Train's sophomore record, Trampoline.
