By now it's common knowledge that Katy Perry wrote "California Gurls" so West Coasters wouldn't get all pouty over the East Coast's bragging rights that came with Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State Of Mind." But in this new MTV.com interview, Katy Perry explains how "California Gurls" became a one-size-fits-all-gurls anthem inspired by a tweet from an Amish girl (wait, the Amish use Twitter?!?).
Katy also reveals which "California Gurls" are her favorite West Coast gurls, including Katy's style icon Bettie Page, who wasn't from California but did die there. And Katy also looks into her "California Gurls" crystal ball and predicts that Judy Jetson will be the "California Gurl" of the future!
Plus, come back to Buzzworthy tomorrow when we'll have behind-the-scenes video footage from Katy's "California Gurls" video. And check out our 10 favorite things about "California Gurls."
