When Sky Ferreira first came across our radars, she was being put on blast by Katy Perry and making punky, spunk electro-pop. As a teenager, she came across, well, like a teenager, dealing with drama and making snotty music to go along with it.
Ferreira is growing up fast. Yeah, she's still only 18 years old, but with her video for "One," you get a peek at a scarily talented young singer.
Fresh off the back of the haunting death disco of "17," Ferreira's new single is another leap forward. Produced by Bloodshy & Avant (aka two-thirds of Miike Snow), it's airy, ethereal and robotic electro that will appeal to fans of Robyn, Kate Bush and Kylie Minogue.
The video was directed by the well-respected photographer Ranking, marking the second time Ferreira has collaborated with a fashion photographer on a music video (Cass Bird directed "17"). It's a clip that beautifully captures the unique crossroads at which Ferreira finds herself: capable of making mature, gorgeous art, but still a girl at heart.
Check out the video. Sky Ferreira's debut album is due out in January 2011.
