PUSH Artist Of The Week: deadmau5

This week’s MTV PUSH Artist of the Week is deadmau5 (pronounced “dead mouse”). This Canadian electro and progressive house producer, who often performs with a giant mouse head on, has been causing people to beat up the beat for the better part of five years now. But with his new compilation, For Lack of a Better Name, he’s primed for a breakthrough. And now is the perfect time to tell you that deadmau5 will be the house artist at the 2010 MTV VMAs, spinning original mixes and remixes throughout the show on Sunday, September 12, 2010.

That crossover will no doubt be spurred along by his song “Ghosts N Stuff,” which is prominently featured on the Jersey Shore soundtrack and has already won the 2010 International Dance Music Award for Best Electro Track.

But enough about the silverware on his mantel: Let’s get to know the man behind the mouse.

Watch the clips below showing deadmau5 in action, unmasked, explaining where the name deadmau5 came from and what’s up with the spelling. Watch deadmaus5′s “I Remember” video. And don’t miss the 2010 MTV VMAs live from Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9/8c!
