Katy Perry is not messing around here. With "Firework," the latest song leak from her one-week-away Teenage Dream album, homegirl is shooting straight for ubiquitous, Olympics theme song, inspirational montage soundtrack status.
If Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" (THROOOOWWWBACK!) were a pounding dance anthem and/or Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" were less down-on-your-luckish, they could almost be "Firework" 's predecessors. Asking if we ever feel like caving in, like falling down like a house of cards, Perry and her big, bad, bouncing chorus comes along to save the day.
Produced by Stargate, "Firework" has a mountain-moving chorus: "Baby you're a firework, come on let your colors burst," Perry sings in full, inspirational house diva voice.
Hear it below for the first of what is likely to be many, many times below. And watch the two deliriously fun videos--"California Gurls" and "Teenage Dream"--from Teenage Dream as well.
