Like the Toys"R"Us kid he likely still is, Soulja Boy doesn't want to grow up. As the young man, Deandre Way continues to get older, his music retains a kind of childlike innocence, regardless of what he's rapping about.
After a somewhat tumultuous summer, which included some Twitter hijinks and some awesome songs ("Pretty Boy Swag"), Soulja is prepping his new album, The DeAndre Way, and if his new single, "Speakers Going Hammer," is anything to go by, he still isn't ready to grow up. In a good way.
Over a beat by Drake favorite, Boi-1da, "Speakers Going Hammer" isn't as musically playful as some of Soulja's earlier work, but it still has a kind of playground chant cadence and effortless appeal.
