When watching the 2010 MTV VMAs on television, everything happens so fast. Your friends are texting you, maybe you've got one eye on Twitter and another eye on your microwaved dinner, while you make a mental note to ask your barber whether he can make you look more like Jared Leto (hypothetically, of course).
But photographs freeze moments in time, capturing a split second forever. Which is why we thought it would be cool to count down the boldest, most beautiful and flat-out weirdest performance moments of this year's VMAs.
+ The Bold: Justin Bieber Plays The Drums
Lots of moving parts in Bieber's performance. There was the arrival in the convertible, the running from Bieber-fevered fans, the singing and dancing routine--it was a lot to handle. But the boldest moment was when Bieber got behind the kit to bang on his drum all day (or for about a minute). Who knew little Biebs had it in him? Well, we did, but we had no idea he was basically a cuter version of Animal from "The Muppets."
The Beautiful: Drake And Mary J. Blige Suit Up
Even we'll admit that the MTV VMAs can get a little bawdy at times, so it was cool to see Drake and Mary J. Blige keeping it classy. Performing Drake's Thank Me Later jam for the ladies, "Fancy," Drake looked like a modern day Sinatra in his white tux. But the real star of the performance was Mary, who looked fantastic rocking a black fedora with a shock of blond hair peeking out from underneath.
The WTF?: Nicki Minaj And Will.i.am As The Jetsons
Look, we LOVE Nicki Minaj. We would fake-marry her if Drake hadn't already fake-married her. And one thing we really, really love about Nicki Minaj is the wild and crazy looks she breaks out. But given the flack he's taken in the last few days over his, um, unique choice in attire, she might have wanted to pregame with Will.i.am a little harder, regarding his stage fashion.
