After two whole days of toasting the d-bags, jerkoffs and, of course, the a**holes, it's time to finally hear a studio version of "Runaway"--the song Kanye West used to bring down the house on the 2010 MTV VMAs.
The studio version of "Runaway" is still a funny, sad and beautiful song. You can hear the numerous layers of production and subtleties in the backing vocals that weren't apparent in the live version. Along with "Monster" and "Power," "Runaway" will probably be on West's upcoming album, (supposedly titled) Dark Twisted Fantasy.
This version also illustrates how incredibly energetic and passionate West's 2010 MTV VMAs performance was. The recorded take of "Runaway," while still awesome, is not the version we just fell in love with. The vocals are far more emotionally distant and Pusha T's guest verse, delivered with such fire on the Nokia Theater stage, is far more reserved.
All this really means is that we have two great versions of a great song. So check both the live and studio versions of "Runaway" below.
