The past two years have been a nonstop on-the-go-fest for power-pop band Disco Curtis, who we first hipped you to in January. Warped Tour, touring with Rooney, recording, Tumbling and a song featured on an episode of "Jersey Shore." And now this: lead singer/songwriter Tanner Howe's announcement that he'll be the only member supporting Disco Curtis.
Check out what Tanner Howe wrote to us about AJ, Garrett and Brendan leaving the band and taking on Disco Curtis as a solo project.
This was very much an amicable split. AJ, Garrett and Brendan all came to me individually and discussed their schooling opportunities. They explained to me that they simply wanted to go back into education and experience the college life. They remain dear friends of mine; therefore, I would never want to hold them back from doing whatever makes them happy in life.
For AJ, Garrett, and Brendan, college has always been a possibility. In high school, they were studious and had dreams of one day going to college. All three members have been accepted into wonderful schools, and I support them in their endeavors.
I had the vision for this project and began writing songs long before anyone else was involved. I started Disco Curtis and will continue Disco Curtis. So I'll be experimenting with new styles and sounds to find what best defines me as Disco Curtis.
Next, I'll be hitting the studio harder than ever this fall to write and record new Disco Curtis songs with Bryan Todd (that's him above), who's worked with Miley Cyrus and Big Time Rush. And I'll stay in touch with fans via Facebook, Twitter, Stickam chats, etc., as much as possible!
So, expect DC to release new music in 2011, most likely in the form of a debut full-length album. Once new music has been released, expect lots of touring! I am ecstatic to get back on the road in 2011 and see new and familiar faces. This is an exciting time in the Disco Curtis family, and I am thankful for the continuing support from fans.
