You have to wonder if "American Idol" producers know what they are getting themselves into by hiring Jennifer Lopez as a judge for the upcoming season. Sure they get a supremely talented actress/singer/dancer/fashion designer/mom/wife/etc. But they also, based on the outrageously awesome hairstyle Lopez was rocking at today's press conference, have hired the lost member of "Charlie's Angels."
Lopez was sporting her fiercest Farrah Fawcett flip onstage when she was officially announced along with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler as a judge for the mega-popular musical talent search. She did not do any high-flying kicks or tackle any bad guys; she simply looked beautiful in what appears to be a bedazzled gray blouse (bedazzled with angel tears, in all likelihood).
Season 10 of "American Idol" with new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, old judge Randy Jackson and never-aging, possibly immortal host Ryan Seacrest returns in January 2011.

Philadelphia rock band Valencia has come up with a cool idea for a video for its new single, "Dancing With a Ghost," and it involves Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and the world's most romantic, life-after-death love story, "Ghost."
Valencia's new video is one part tribute to the erotic pottery, love-beyond-the-grave story of "Ghost," and one part visualization of the song's can't-let-go-of-love theme. The track is a totally catchy piece of power pop that will surely induce head-nodding on a first listen.
"Dancing With a Ghost," which is available on iTunes now, is taken from Valencia's album of the same name, out October 12. After that, you can catch Valencia on the road with Buzzworthy faves Automatic Loveletter.

Nicki Minaj is undoubtedly one of the most exciting new talents in music. We've just been waiting for her music to catch up with her talent. Make no mistake, Nicki's solo singles--"Massive Attack," "Check It Out" and "Your Love"--all have distinct qualities, but none of them has truly captured Nicki's blinding charisma the way some of her guest verses have (see: Kanye West's "Monster"). Maybe that's all going to change with "Right Thru Me."
This track will likely appear on Nicki Minaj's highly anticipated Pink Friday album. The song leaked earlier today, and the reaction was so positive that, reportedly, they are prepping its official iTunes release soon.
One listen to the track and you can hear what all the commotion is about. This is one-part straight-shooting rap, in Nicki's inimitable, multiple-accent style. It's also one-part mid-tempo, Katy-Perry-esque ballad, with Nicki showing off some impressive pipes, while singing about a lover who stands by her through thick and thin.
Not unlike Drake, Nicki beautifully blends genres--pop, R&B, hip-hop, even some techno keyboards--and makes something all her own. Pink Friday can't get here fast enough.

Los Angeles teen phenoms Ben J. and Legacy, who make up the hip-hop duo New Boyz, are pretty Internet savvy dudes. Just check out their web-friendly hit "Dot Com." So it almost seems out of character to not see them in some form of streaming media...even a GIF, right? But here they are, in stunning color, in this new collection of MTV.com photos.
Gregg Delman's shots certainly capture the youthful vigor of the group. On tracks like "Tie Me Dowm," and "You're A Jerk," New Boyz perfectly convey the care-free joy of being a teen; a sense one certainly gets from these shots.
Check out more photos, as well as New Boyz's "Dot Com" video and "Break My Bank" below.

As anyone who watched MTV.com's live stream of Sleigh Bells' incredible performance at New York's Webster Hall on Monday night knows, this is a band that just oozes confidence.
That feeling of swagger is omnipresent in the video for their single "Infinity Guitars," taken from Sleigh Bells' (who happen to be our MTV PUSH Artist Of The Week) assured debut album, Treats.
What can you expect from the "Infinity Guitars" music vid? Singer Alexis Krauss as a Catholic school girl from the wrong side of the tracks--the side where you carry a baseball bat around with you--and guitarist Derek Miller parading around like a modern day Dave Mustaine, with a jean jacket and a heavy metal black guitar.
The clip is as utterly destructive and chaotic as the band itself. Check out the new video below from Sleigh Bells, "Infinity Guitars," featuring cheerleaders and explosions and one very cool band. Treats is out now.

Maroon 5 makes sexy music for sexy people. So it stands to reason that at the band's own record-release party, the young, rich and fabulous would be out in full effect. Folks like Aziz Ansari, Whitney Port, Paz de la Huerta (of the new show "Boardwalk Empire") and others were on hand at the Standard Hotel in New York to celebrate Maroon 5's Hands All Over.
The most obviously vocal proponent of Maroon 5's newest slab of sultry funk-pop was Ne-Yo, who made sure to give the ol' Roger Ebert thumbs-up when the camera spotted him with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
Hands All Over came out yesterday, Sept. 21. As a treat for all you fans, check out the band's live performance of their hit "This Love" below.

Ohai! It's a petty, peppy Britney Spears, leaving the Topanga Mall in California with her kids in tow. What was Britney up to in the mall? Well, based on other photos from the scene, she went to Starbucks. In other news water is wet.
What else did Britney get up to at the mall? Well, we did a little research, and we can reasonably guess that Brit's day went a little like this: shoe shopping at Jimmy Choo, some high-end housewares shopping at Anthropologie, then she WENT IN at Panda Express and ended the day with a Fat Free Double Mocha Caramel Venti Skim Milk Latte.
Or maybe she just hung out with her kids! Frankly, any Britney is good Britney. Let's just admit that we're all patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for Britney's episode of "Glee" to air on Sept. 28.
