I'm not anthropology major, and I have pretty decent vision for someone who spends his life staring at a computer screen. So I'm gonna go all in and say this, definitively: Amy Winehouse is not an old black man.
Amy Winehouse, however, disagrees with me. In a new interview with "Harper's Bazaar," the "Rehab" singer and ballet slipper enthusiast declares, "I just dress like...I’m an old black man. Sorry!” she says. “Like I’m an old Jewish black man. I just dress like it’s still the ’50s.”
I must have missed the episode of "Mad Men" where old black Jewish men wear blood-stained slippers and get chest-enhancement surgery. Maybe it was a deleted scene.
Now to be fair to Amy Winehouse, she was talking about her sartorial sensibility, not her soul. But it's nice to see she's still willing to toss out bon mots like this.
Elsewhere in the Harper's interview, Amy Winehouse talks about her affection for the classic British label Fred Perry, for whom she's currently designing a line of clothing, as well as her love life, which is apparently going well.
