"Get Back Up" is a new single from T.I. and Chris Brown, two guys who know a few things about having to mount comebacks. And, in the case of T.I., the track has a sort of sad irony to it. T.I.'s personal redemption will have to wait another year, as the Atlanta rapper was recently sentenced to 11 months in prison due to violating his parole.
With the knowledge that T.I. is in fact headed back to jail, "Get Back Up," which is reportedly taken from T.I.'s upcoming King Uncaged album, takes on a sadder kind of quality, especially with lines like, "I won't take you down this road again."
Musically, "Get Back Up" is actually a rather buoyant track, with a shuffling beat and soft, pretty keyboards dancing around in the background. For the most part, Chris Brown chimes in with ad-libs and provides the chorus, but this is mainly T.I.'s confession, as the rapper insists, "I'm only human."
Let's hope the King of the South is able to get back up again once he's done serving his time.
