Hopefully the House Of Blues Sunset reinforced the floors before My Chemical Romance took the stage tonight for their "Live In L.A.: My Chemical Romance," concert because the band's pile-driver of a show was nothing less than a rock riot, celebrating their new album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. If you missed MTV.com's livestream of the concert, here's a song-by-song review of the entire show.
After the night's Killjoy carnival outside of the House of Blues, and a quick opener by Show Pony, My Chemical Romance bounded on stage with the militaristic gusto of an army suited up and ready to do battle. And the screaming My Chemical Romance fans responded in kind, souvenir prop Rayguns pointed at the stage, screaming like their lives were at stake as My Chemical Romance ripped into their raucous single, "Na Na Na," with balls-to-the-wall pomp, circumstance, and sexy swagger.

After the frenzied opening, My Chemical Romance launched into a throwback hit, "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)," which was met by an explosively joyful audience, whose arms were raised in sync with the band's homecoming headbanger.
"Planetary (Go)!," off of Danger Days, was a spectacularly glam affair and an apt metaphor for the band's relationship with their fans if not a love letter to the crowd. The electric energy of "House Of Wolves" whipped the crowed into a full-blown frenzy, with the crowd breaking into mosh pits factions that easily rivaled those of any underground hardcore show.

My Chemical Romance then cranked out their bawdy, cocksure, lung-scorching scream-along take on Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row," turning the song, featured in the movie Watchmen into a snarling, amped-up American anthem.

At that point, My Chemical Romance turned the spotlight on their fans as a flame-haired Gerard told them "thank you for waiting such a long time... it was like no time's passed. We chased the art." The band then launched into "SING," as Gerard dedicated the song to the rapt audience. "This song is about you," he said, leading the devout crowd into what almost felt like prayer with Gerard at the lip of the stage, arms outstretched like a pleading preacher.
After breaking the mesmerizing spell of "SING," My Chemical Romance launched full-bore into "Give 'Em Hell Kid," tearing into the song as the crowd erupted into the type of mosh pits your mom warned you about.

My Chemical Romance brought the requisite oom-pa-pah theatrics on "Mama," as the crowd hung onto every syllable and guitar riff. The pleading, plaintive, swelling sea of emotions of "The Only Hope For Me Is You" was even more raw and real, while "Teenagers" remained the freewheeling, one-finger salute MCR fans know and love. As the show drew to a close, My Chemical Romance delivered another kick in the gut with their harrowing, haunting "Ghost Of You," followed by their final song, "Famous Last Words," at which point the audience reached a fever pitch, as the most fearless fans surfed above the crowd.

Before they called it a night, My Chemical Romance returned to the stage and thanked their fans before ripping into not one but two encores -- "Helena," and "Kids From Yesterday," wrought with their signature atmospherics and perfectly timed rock moves, saluting the fans who followed them all the way here on their long journey. So long and good night, Killjoys.
