Seeing as how Britney Spears is very much back, it should come as little surprise that Chris Crocker--he of "leave Britney alone" fame--is back as well.
Chris Crocker's Wikipedia entry title actually says, "Chris Crocker (Internet Celebrity)." That about sums it up, but it doesn't tell the whole story. Yes, Chris Crocker rose to infamy when, in 2007, he posted his famous, tear-filled, shrieking defense of a then on-the-ropes Britney Spears to YouTube.
To date, 36 million people have watched Crocker's classic viral video. His plea even ended up on a thong. But there's a lot more to Chris Crocker than just impassioned, unhinged monologues. He also makes music and music videos.
In 2008 he made a musical ode to himself and his Britney rant called, of all things, "Leave Britney Alone." And now, with Britney's "Hold It Against Me" making the rounds, he returns.
Displaying an unsurprising amount of Spearsian influence, Chris Crocker dropped his new video, "Freak Of Nature." In a blond wig and a studded bra, Crocker sings about being a freak of nature over a hard dance beat. The video is pretty NSFW, with all manner of touching and illicit eating of strawberries going on.
So here's to Chris Crocker, proving there are second acts in American life. Take that, F. Scott Fitzgerald!
