Warning. If you've got the winter blahs, blues, doldrums or a mild case of the Erykah Sadus, you might want to wait until spring to watch Taylor Swift's new video, "Back To December." Because it's a bummer. It's cold and snowing outside, where her ex sits on a football stadium bleacher, looking very much like something out of "Friday Night Lights." And maybe Taylor forgot to close the door of her depressing-looking modest bungalow--lonely-looking teapot on top of a sad stove, solitary glass of water on the nondescript countertop--because it's snowing inside too. Though maybe the heat's cranked, because Taylor's not wearing pants in the majority of the video. (Although maybe it is freezing because Taylor takes a bath with some of her clothes still on.)
Taylor Swift's "Back To December" video isn't just about a girl with her calendar permanently stuck on the 12th month of the year. It's not just about feeling like a Lady Antebellum song. It's about getting stuck in a place of romantic regret. (And not wearing pants.) Fortunately, at the end of the video, Taylor apologizes and finally moves on, getting her feelings out on paper in an "I'm sorry" note and packing a bag of symbolic memories. Don't worry, Taylor. Spring's only a few months away!
