As part of MTV’s Indie Music Month, we’re premiering videos from some of the most vibrant, inventive and fresh artists in the indie music scene. And today we bring you a brand-new clip from one of Seattle’s most buzzed about bands, The Head And The Heart.
The Head And The Heart are seriously having a moment. After spending the first half of 2010 touring the Pacific Northwest, this folk-inflected six-piece group got to work in the studio, releasing their self-produced eponymous debut album last June. Then came the hype. With a huge local following, Sub Pop Records quickly took notice, signing the band last fall and rereleasing the album under its umbrella. In February, Spin magazine listed The Head And The Heart as the No. 2 “Must-Hear Act At SXSW.” And today, here we are, bringing you their video for “Lost In My Mind.”
The song is a rollicking acoustic ditty bursting with the same classic Americana sound that is gaining popularity, as bands such as The Avett Brothers cross over into the mainstream. The video keeps with this folksy sensibility, as the band traipses across a snowy landscape, guitars in hand, on their way to a candlelit outdoor performance space replete with a crackling, down-home bonfire.
