As part of MTV's Indie Music Month, we're premiering videos from some of the most exciting artists in the indie music scene. If you really want to have a good weekend, you'll want to check out "Classic," the latest jazz-drenched hip-hop track from Med, featuring veteran MC Talib Kweli.
Produced by jazz drummer and revered hip-hop producer Karriem Riggins, the black and white video conjures up a classic 1920s-era jazz club. Taking their cue from riverboat gamblers and Prohibition-era fashion, the two dapper MCs -- fedoras and bowties straight and spotless -- don sharp suits to play poker, rhyme on stage and kick game to women in long pearl necklaces and exquisite cocktail dresses.
MED, aka Medaphoar, has been on the West Coast hip-hop scene for more than a decade, appearing on albums by Madvillian and experimental hip-hop producer Madlib. With "Classic," the title says more in one word than we could in 100. Check it.
