It's been speculated for weeks, but Britney Spears finally put rumors to rest this morning when she officially announced Nicki Minaj as her opening act for the upcoming, and highly anticipated, Femme Fatale tour. "This is the Femme Fatale tour, and I'm thrilled to have the hot Nicki Minaj join me and Jessie and the Toy Boys and Nervo will get everyone on the dance floor," Britney Spears announced on her site. "Can't wait to take the Femme Fatales on the road."
Talk about a "Moment 4 Life" ... the opportunity to open for the legendary Miss Britney Spears is huge, so we're sending some megawatt congrats Nicki Minaj's way! I can already hear the new lyrics in my head: "No I'm not lucky, I'm blessed, yes. Clap for the heavyweight champ, me Britney." From scoring a No. 1 debut album to co-headlining VH1 Divas to opening for Brit-Brit... whew, Nicki is having quite the successful year!
Admittedly, I'd never heard of Jessie and the Toy Boys or Nervo. Yes, yes, I know. So I did a Google search, and I'm liking what I hear. Check out "Push It" by Jessie and the Toy Boys and "Irresistible" by Nervo. I can see myself hair flipping to both; therefore I approve.
I think it's awesome that Britney is bringing an all-female lineup on the road with her. I mean let's be real -- I wouldn't have minded drooling over Enrique Iglesias but I LOVE a group of fierce bayotches. I totally respect Britney for supporting her fellow female counterparts and having a strong girl-power attitude. Not only is Britney teaming up with Nicki for her upcoming tour, she also recently joined forces with Rihanna this week on an amazing remix of "S&M." It's so refreshing to see artists supporting one another!
Now, I can't lie to y'all and say that I'm completely shaking and crying over this tour just YET, since I'm incredibly sad that Britney will not be stopping in my hometown of New York City. SMDH.
...BUT once I figure out a backup plan (Maybe I'll pull a "Jersey Shore" Season 2 and see her in Miami?) I can almost guarantee I will have a similar reaction to the first time I saw Britney in concert. How do you guys feel about Nicki Minaj teaming up with Britney?
