Never one to shirk on incendiary visuals, Lupe Fiasco brings a hyperkinetic style to his politically minded video for "Words I Never Said," the second single off his recently released album Lasers. Black militaristic combat boots and a black hoodie set the scene as we find Lupe in the midst of planning a prison break-in to free one of his captured soldiers.
"It was more so me being this liberator, undercover agent who was sneaking into this prison to kinda rescue one of my comrades from the clutches of the evil people," Lupe recently told Rap-Up.com. "There's fight scenes and a whole lotta action. It's very aggressive, but at the end, I get the girl, so that's all that counts."
The preview also intersperses shots of Lupe in prison with footage from 9/11 and the Gaza Strip. The MC certainly isn't shy about expressing his political side, and with footage of actors portraying ambassadors from the U.S., Israel and France positioned in a police lineup, "Words I Never Said" isn't exactly breaking that streak.
"Words I Never Said" was directed by Moroccan-American director Sanaa Hamri, whose past work includes videos by Jay-Z, Prince, Christina Aguilera and Nicki Minaj. Check out the preview below, and don't miss the premiere of Lupe Fiasco's "Words I Never Said" video Thursday, April 28, on MTV.com.
