It's here... and it's spectacular. Lady Gaga's "Judas" video, co-directed by Gaga herself along with her creative director/choreographer Laurieann Gibson, "leaked" today, making today our most favorite Cinco De Mayo that we can remember!
Lady Gaga's gone on record saying that "Judas" isn't a biblical lesson, despite the numerous religious references in both the song and the video, but it's in fact more of a social and cultural statement. You know, probably something about the balance between trust and betrayal, blah, blah blah. That's all fine and great and everything, but we just want to talk about how sick and rad it is!
Below are our five favorite things about Lady Gaga's "Judas" video:
1.) The lipstick gun: Full disclosure: the lipstick gun is the coolest thing we've ever seen in the entire world. A gun that shoots lipstick is a gun that would make the world a better -- and prettier -- place.
2.) The motorcycle gang: If you ask us, motorcycle gangs don't get enough action these days. But they're the epitome of cool! And leave it to Lady Gaga to make helmet hair sexy.
3.) The hair: Long and blond, back in a bandanna, shaped into a crown, black and blond stripes... Love it or hate it, there is some HURRR going on in this video. And that's "hair" with a capital "H." And with some "u"s. Also, don't you just love how Gaga goes all self-referential, referring back to her "Telephone" video?
4.) The choreo: Easy now, Beyonce -- Lady Gaga has become quite the dancer. She's known for her strong vocals but we can tell gurl's been practicing. And we love it!
5.) The "Judas" video is an homage to everything: "Judas" pays tribute to some of our favorite things: Alexander McQueen. TLC's "Waterfalls" video, OBVIOUSLY! The Passion of the Christ, Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, "La Isla Bonita," and (most importantly) cholas. And you may say that Gaga in the bathtub is a baptism/ purification reference, but we think she's like "HEY REMEMBER MY 'BAD ROMANCE' VIDEO? BECAUSE I DO!" Anyway, it's like Gaga saw our web history and made a music video out of it.
